I have a CEM Global PS78121 ice maker that has quit making ice after one month of use. I don't have a manual to trouble shoot it and need help. The compressor won't keep running to freeze the ice. Then if it does make some, it won't kick them out to the tray. The cubes just sit in the back and melt.

The problem is that the tabs on your white plastic tray with the ice falls into our broken off. I have the same problem. I am looking for a source to buy the new ice tray. If you have any knowledge of where to get parts for this piece of junk please let me know.

SOURCE: DCE33A-1BC Scotsman Ice Maker will

From your description it seems that the refrigeration system of the ice cube is not cooling enough. For this reason the production per day is much lower than it should be. That is why the unit never stops since by the time it have produce new ice cubes the first ones already melt. So it can never be able the ice been container to full enough to rice up to sensor bar.
So first you should reach for the condenser and with a brush and a vacuum cleaner try to clean it from all the dust on it. This will increase the capacity of the cooling system.
You need also to check that the condenser fan is working since if it don't then you will need to replace it.
If the two above case are ok then you need to check the freon charge and it might need some additional Freon charge, but this is not a DIY job since you will need special expensive tools and also a license to deal with freon.
In any case try the two first cases since are the most possible ones.

SOURCE: ICE MAKER RUNS WITH WATER

Hi,

If the ice cubes are smaller than the normal sized ice cubes and the shape seems to be irregular, there might be problems with the water supply. The ice maker could be malfunctioning due to a faulty water inlet valve. In case, the handle on the valve is not in the right position, fluctuations in the water pressure could result in the irregular shape and size of the ice cubes. Ice maker might also not be able to work due to clogging of the water supply valve. A blockage in the filter could also obstruct the water flow. You might have to consider ice maker repair in case the valve contains a bad coil.

SOURCE: KENMORE COLDSPOT MODEL10652212104 THE FAN

Hi, if the fan, evaporator fan is not running, it has failed on you. If you are up to doing this kind of work, you can replace it your self. It is a 120 volt evaporator fan motor, and if you can get it out, take it with you along with the name of the unit, model & serial # to an appliance parts house to get one. If they don't have the exact one, they have universal ones that will fit. This will solve your problem.

My GE Profile Spacemaker XL(JVM1350BW 002) starts a loud buzzing noise 3-5 seconds after started and is not heating food. Any thoughts or is it dead?

Hello Scott MacAskill,

I would say it is only dead if you want it to be...

BIG noise is USUALLY a bad transformer... Sadly your is about $200 USD... so EASTER egg trouble shooting could be COST PROHIBATIVE.

SERVICE manuals begin at $9.95...

Youtube is generally full of WILDER GUESSES than mine...
Try the on-line support from SEARS...
Just check your prices before buying anything from them...
(my opinion... after getting personal shafted by the 3 TIMES).

Parts are available...
(must be a nice unit.. pretty $$$$ parts)...
I have my own nemesis... a MARVEL 6RFI refrigerator...

My wife loved it for 20 years...
Then it needed serious servicing...

Every MARVEL part I try to buy is marked up $150 just for the name... I find the exact parts & have my Supco Fan for $22 instead of the $172 for a MARVEL fan...

GE is highly serviceable & popular...

If you are willing to put in the time... Newer appliances are just
not quite as good...

They are practically tin-foil (with no added features)...

Your choice... Sadly my wife only tolerates my FIXING ...
She would long ago put it on the trash heap
(ice maker, stainless steel & all)...

Alas (what have you got to lose by trying?)

Prima Bread Making Machine ABM4 I need a manual to be able to use it, can you email me one to download.

I searched for quite some time here is what I found out.
The manual used to be on this website:
www.prima-international.com
Their website is now a dead link.
The closest manual I can locate it the ABM6 here:
http://kitchen.manualsonline.com/support/prima/bread-maker/manual-933488#comments
You will see green lettering ABM6.pdf mid page. That is the manual link.

If this does not help you do not rate the post and others may have a source or a personal copy. (I don't) I am pretty good at finding manuals but this one just does not seem to be out there anywhere.

Ice maker will not make ice

hELLO THERE:
There's no ice If your ice maker has stopped producing ice completely, check these, in this order: It may be turned off. Look for the wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If the wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. If so, try one of these: If your ice maker has a small red plastic lever, lower it to lower the wire. If there's no plastic lever, simply lower the wire. In either case, the ice maker should begin producing ice again. Also make sure that the temperature is 8 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. If the freezer is too warm, the ice maker won't cycle properly. The ice maker fill tube may be blocked with ice. If so, melt the blockage using a hair dryer-but be careful to not melt any plastic parts! Also replace the water shut-off valve or water-inlet valve, or both, if necessary. The ice maker head assembly may have broken parts. Look to see if the gears are broken. Check to see if the small plastic arms that rest against the ice rake are broken. If the ice maker head assembly is modular and you've found broken parts, you can just replace it.

Not making ice. water is getting to the water dispenser but don't know why it is not getting to the ice maker itself. how do i check it/repair it.

Hia and wl;ecome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
We really need a make and model number to provide you with specific unit applicable information but.... in general, here goes:
1. Ice makers must have a freezer temp below 16 Deg F. If there is an airflow problem in the freezer caused by a fan or ice build up the ice maker will no longer make ice.
2. The ice maker has a thermostat that controls the harvest and fill cycle. If the thermostat fails it will stop making ice.
3. There is a water valve in the back of the unit that has TWO electric solenoids on it. One for water in door and one for ice. If a solenoid fails it will stop providing water to the applicable function. I.e water in door or ice. You can briefly remove the fiberboard back cover to gain access to the water valve. Then switch the installed terminal connection between solenoids. Left to right or front to back depending on how it is mounted. Then try the water in door. If water flows to the ice maker when water in door switch is actuated then the solenoid for making ice is good and the probem is with the icemaker. (Reconect wires in original positions.)

Note that anytime you remove power from the unit you must wait 10 - 15 mintues before re-applying power so the coolant system can stabilze. Other wise the compressor will not start.

Here is a web link that will help most people troubleshoot ice maker problems:
http://www.american-appliance.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=12&newsdesk_id=34

The link above is pretty good.
There is a 48 page job aid also for whirlpool in door ice that is also a big help:
http://adcxns1.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/8527f904cc8ea8cd85256b5800672333/$FILE/4322658A.pdf

This should help you find out why it is not making ice.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

Model # trt18GREW5 ice maker will not make ice, and no water flowing thru valve w/ water supply on and water tube to ice maker disconnected

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.
