I was able to get one of these working that had a dead pen. I reset the pen (insert a pin in the side), and plugged it into a USB port on my computer. I then opened the smartglobe 3 software and it updated the pen. A couple times it failed to format the pen.

I had to switch the pen to another usb port and then it finally formatted and downloaded all of the info to it. It took a looooong time to update. Then it said it was updating the Clock. It then told me to disconnect the pen, but... I was wary of this because most usb devices require some kind of dismounting before you unplug something.

So instead of disconnecting the pen when it said to, I quit the smartglobe software and shut down the computer, without ever unplugging the pen. Once the computer was off I finally unplugged the pen from the usb cable. I turned off the pen and turned it back on. It then worked, (a guy came on and said something)! I think maybe there isn't a way to "eject" the pen properly, so shutting down might (big emphasis on might) allow the usb connection to disconnect successfully without corrupting the flash memory of the pen. Or I just got really lucky. Either way I'm happy! (And not about to update it again I might add).

Try a low format FAT 32 in windows with "HDD Low Format" app. Make sure your downloaded firmware has no CRC errors and put it in the root of your FAT 32 usb stick. Do a System Update from the Safe Mode in your PS3. Following this steps should do just fine. Write back to know how it works.

How to fix No Bootable Media Error Message

FAT (File Allocation Table) is one of the most widely used file systems used now-a-days with various versions of Windows operating systems and memory cards. Every logical partition contains a FAT that consists of file allocation information and the information of free allocation units that need to be assigned to files. Although the FAT file system is reliable, corruption still occurs due to various reasons. In such situations of FAT corruption, your system becomes unbootable, resulting into inaccessibility of data saved in FAT based hard drive. To access the data after FAT file system damage, an easy way is to restore the data from an updated backup. But, with inaccessibility of data backup or backup falling short to restore the required data, an ideal option left is to use an advanced FAT Data Recoveryapplication that can recover the lost data.

To illustrate the above scenario, consider a practical case the below error message pops up when you attempt to boot your system:

“No Bootable Media”

As the above error message appears at the time of booting the system, you wont be able to access the data saved in the hard drive.

Cause:

The above error message because the FAT file system has been corrupted. Few main causes for file system damage are improper system shutdown, human errors, and virus attack.

Resolution:

To isolate the above error message and to access the data after the above error message appears, you will need to follow the below steps:

Run CHKDSK utility to repair the FAT file system. If the problem persists, format the hard drive.

While the latter resolution resolves the above error message completely, it also deletes the data saved on your hard drive. In such cases, if the backup is not available, then you can only recover your formatted data by using an advanced third-party FAT Data Recovery software.

A FAT Partition Recovery utility thoroughly scans a FAT based hard drive and recovers almost all data, even after formatting. The data recovery utility can be downloaded from the Internet.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is an efficient FAT Partition Recovery tool that recover lost, deleted, and formatted data from both FAT (FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, VFAT) and NTFS (NTFS, and NTFS5 ) based hard drives. The detailed help manual attached with the tool allows even a new user to perform recovery easily without any technical knowledge. It supports Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2003, and 2000.

N-card error

Depending on what type of card you have, you need to go to the appropriate website and download the latest software files. If the card takes a memory card you may also find formatting the card with the fat 32 system more reliable and this may get rid of the Open fat error also.
Hope this helps

Here's how you fix it for rca H106:

use the user maunal so you know what I'm talking about. I got the FAT error! Plz.. and I could still get the icons. This is how I fixed it. Go to settings and go to advanced press play once only. Plug into computer and it wil recognize it as a flash drive. Completely Format the drive then unplug the player from computer. It will switch back to previous setting automatically. If you need to update drivers and firmware use the auto updater from http://www.voxxsupport.com/images/downloads/autoupdater.exe
