That's my problem. How do I connect the Sharp VL-E66U camcorder to my computer? It only has a small plug,on the front, marked AUDIO/VIDEO. I thought this was to see the video on a tv? Thanks, Bennett

You should capture the tapes. First connect the camcorder to the computer then open a video editing software like windows movie maker. Click the capture from camera button to start capturing. Once its done you can save the movie to your computer.

Oh! I just checked the specs and it has no USB/firewire port. A tv tuner card( which has a RCA component input) should do the trick. It will come along with a video recording software that you can use to capture your clips.

1. You need a firewire cable to connect camcorder to the computer.
2. Use the CD that came with the camcorder to install drivers.
3. The computer will detect it when you power ON the camcorder.
4. Use Windows Vista MovieMaker (free) to transfer and "edit" video and/or create a DVD disc

Want to transfer videos from a mini DV cassette to computer.

Hi
Basically what you need is a video card in your computer. Then you can connect your AV/S cable from the camcorder to the computer video card. When you buy a new video card, it usually comes with a free basic editing software which you can use to capture the video on your computer. Hope this helps.

I have a sharp camcorder model vl-e785u and I am needing to know if there is somehow to download my tapes to a computer to burn to a cd.

I don't know about downloading to a computer, but you can buy a VCR/DVD recorder for about $140, put the VHS-C cartridge in the adapter and transfer to a DVD, or plug your Camcorder into a DVD recorder (about $119) and copy. It couldn't hurt to check out some of the transfer services that could do a little editing and copying for a modest fee.

I let it sit overnight and when I opened the door I nudged the part that holds the tape up. I got the tape out but I think it is still frozen. I will try a different tape and hope it still works. I'll post results.
Thanks

Camcorder

You need to process it through a computer before itll transfer.
DVD is a digital format and needs to be converted. Use a video capture device on your PC and then use a video editer program (moviemaker, etc) to post-process and then burn to DVD.
