Hi.

Either the profile had been changed, or the data file is corrupted.

If using Windows ensure that you are not logging in into system with a different account.

If problem happened recently , try doing a system restore to a date before having the problem.

If that still does not help, then the data file may be damaged.

How do use Verbatim to back up files

Which operating system ?

Determine how much space you need. The first step in backing up your hard drive is to figure out how much space you will need to back up all of your files. You can do this in a couple of ways. Find out how large the hard drive is on your computer first to see if you can back up the whole thing. Click on "My Computer," right-click the "C" drive and select "Properties." This shows the approximate of your hard drive, how much space is actually taken, plus the space used by your operating system. If your hard drive is manageable (the space actually taken), back up the whole thing. Your second option is to create a file called "Backup" and copy all of your important files into it. Right-click on the folder once everything is copied over and choose "Properties" to find out the of the folder. This is how much space you will need to back up your important files only. Choose a backup method. Choose either an external hard drive, data disks (CDs, for example) or use an online backup service. Plug the flash drive or the External Hard drive into your computer's rectangular-shaped USB drive. Wait for Windows to recognize the system. Windows operating systems use "plug and play" technology, which means that computer peripherals like USB flash drives can be recognized instantly by the system without further need for device configuration. Open the drive on your computer. Open the "My Computer" directory if using Windows XP or the "Computer" directory if using Windows 7 or Vista. Locate the flash drive letter and icon under the section named "Devices with Removable Storage." Double-click the flash drive icon to open it. Transfer files to the flash drive. Click the "Restore" button in the top-right corner of the "Computer" or "My Computer" directory to shrink the window so that you can view your computer's desktop background. Open the folders or locations of the files which you want to save to the flash drive. Click and drag with your mouse each of the files and folders you want to save to the flash drive over to the empty space in the "My Computer" or "Computer" window. Release the mouse button to let the files "drop." Close the windows and directory locations when finished. Save files directly onto the flash drive. From an open file (i.e. text, spreadsheet, image files. etc.), click the "File" menu and "Save as" option. Select the "My Computer" or "Computer" directory in the drop-down menu at the top of the "Save As" box. Double-click the flash drive letter under the "Devices with Removable Storage" section. Can't find back-up folder

You might have to create a folder you can do this by right clicking in the backup destination drive selecting new folder and name it lets say Back Up 2012 for the excercise.

Determine how much space you need.

The first step in backing up your hard drive is to figure out how much space you will need to back up all of your files.

You can do this in a couple of ways.

Find out how large the hard drive is on your computer first to see if you can back up the whole thing. Click on "My Computer," right-click the "C" drive and select "Properties."

This shows the approximate size of your hard drive, how much space is actually taken, plus the space used by your operating system.

If your hard drive size is manageable (the space actually taken), back up the whole thing.

Your second option is to create a file called "Backup" and copy all of your important files into it.

Right-click on the folder once everything is copied over and choose "Properties" to find out the size of the folder.

Open the "My Computer" directory if using Windows XP or the "Computer" directory if using

Windows 7 or Vista.

Release the mouse button to let the files "drop."

Close the windows and directory locations when finished.

Click the "Save" button to save the file onto the flash drive.

Close the windows and files when finished

Hope this helps.

You have "Simple Backup" on. To turn this function off and add custom files, you must open the Seagate Manager and select "Custom Backup" and then select the files and folders you want backed up. This should be under "Start" button, "Programs", "Seagate". Hope this was helpful.

I am getting error codes 6129,0 and 6073, 816 on my quickbooks 2008. What can I do to open the company?

This error can occur when:
  • Data is converted or restored over a network.
  • Several computers are acting as host for the QuickBooks data file.
  • QuickBooks is unable to communicate with the server.
  • There is data damage in your company file.

If the error occurred when you were restoring a company file from a backup or updating a company file to a newer version of QuickBooks over a network:
  1. Copy the backup file (.qbb file extension) or the company file you want to update (.qbw file extension) to a local hard drive.
  2. Restore the backup or update the company file.
  3. Copy the restored or updated company file back to its original location.

If the error occurred when you were trying to open and use a company file:
  1. Update QuickBooks to the most current release on all computers that open the company file.
  2. Close QuickBooks on all the computers with access to this company file.
  3. On the computer you select to host the company file, switch to single-user mode, and then back to multi-user mode:
    1. Open QuickBooks and open the company file.
    2. Choose File > Switch to Single-user Mode.
    3. Choose File > Utilities > Stop Hosting Multi-User Access.
    4. Choose File > Switch to Multi-user Mode.
    5. Choose File > Close Company to close the company file.
  4. On all other computers that will use the company file, stop hosting multi-user access :
    1. Press and hold Ctrl while you open the QuickBooks program and continue pressing Ctrl until QuickBooks opens completely. This opens QuickBooks without opening a company file.
    2. Choose File > Utilities >Stop Hosting Multi-User Access. If that option doesn't appear, the computer is not hosting and no further action is necessary.
    3. Repeat steps 4.a and 4.b for each computer other than the host computer.
  5. Configure the QuickBooks server for multi-user access:
    1. Click the Windows Start button and choose All Programs > QuickBooks > QuickBooks Database Server Manager.
    2. Click the Scan Folders tab.
    3. Click the Add Folder button, select the folder that contains your QuickBooks company file, and click OK. Repeat this step if necessary to add additional company file folders.
    4. Click the Scan button to begin scanning. After the scan is finished, the company files in the scanned folders are configured for multi-user access.
  6. Open the company file in QuickBooks. If you receive the same error message, refer to Settings required for firewalls to make sure your firewall is properly configured to allow QuickBooks access to your company file.
  7. Open the company file in QuickBooks. If you receive the same error message, open a different company file or a sample company file located in one of the folders you scanned with the Database Server Manager.
    • If no company file will open, reboot the host computer and try again.
    • If other company files open without error, the company file generating the error message may be damaged. For more information refer to Verifying and rebuilding QuickBooks company data.

Lacie extern. hard drive is recognized, but I can't access files

Try connecting the Lacie to another computer, if it doesn't work then the hard disk may need to be formatted using Disk Manager. I suggest you format as a primary partition in FAT32.
If it doesn't work then it is possible that the hard drive in the Lacie has failed.
To test the hard drive, remove it and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a working computer's USB port. If it deosn't detect it as an external drive and you connot open folders and files then it is faulty.
You can install a new hard drive in the Lacie and then format in FAT32
There are companies that can recover data from faulty hard drives BUT it will cost you an arm and a leg for their services.

How to Take a Back up Of Tally 7.2

Open Tally, press Alt+F3-Company Info, you will see Back Up link. Select & enter required fields (drives) where you would like to take back up

Go to company information- click backup - you can take backup on floppy or on hard disk with proper path.
i.e make the backup (or any name) folder on suitable drive. But do not choose C: drive as you may forget when you are formatting the drive.
Then you can copy the same folder on CD to open any where.

When turns on shows a computer screen and red cross

Hi there

This happens because files on your card are corrupted after an unsuccessful download.
If you have a card backup at hand, put the card into a computer, format it , and restore backup.
After that the TOMTOM will restart working normally.

If you did not make a copy or backup of the original card, or you cannot reach the computer hosting the last backup. Then follow the procedure below to restore your data :

1. Uninstall the application

2. Reinstall the application

attention_25.gif We highly recommend backing up your device before continuing. questionmark_25.gif
This will preserve any maps and voices you may have purchased.
1. Connect your device to your computer.
2. Go to Computer (Vista), My Computer (XP) or your Desktop (Mac).
3. Double-click the TomTom disk drive to open your TomTom.
4. Make sure that hidden folders and files are shown. To do this:
  • Vista: Go to Organize > Folder and Search Options, click on the View tab and select the option Show hidden files and folders.
2053_01.gif
  • XP: Tools > Folder Options..., click on the View tab and select the option Show hidden files and folders.
2053_02.gif
  • Mac: With the exception of some system files, your Mac should already show all hidden files and folders on the TomTom drive.
5. Identify the map folders on the TomTom. These are named for countries or regions such as USA_and_Canada, North_America or any other country or geographical region.
6. Delete all files EXCEPT these map folder(s) and the folder titled ASR, if it exists (the ASR folder will not appear on every device).
7. Properly disconnect the TomTom from the computer and exit TomTom HOME, if it is open.
  • Vista/XP: Right-click the TomTom drive and choose Eject.
  • Mac: Drag the TomTom drive to your Trash.
8. When the TomTom boots you should see a screen with the flashing X.
Proceed to reinstall the application (below):
