Hello Hacker,

Open the lan card properties and open the tab configure. Go to the advance option and look for Link speed and Duplex option. From left pane choose the value 10Mbps/Half Duplex. The Lab connection will be enabled. Also enter the IP address and DNS settings if required.

A router between your ISP and the switch will assign addresses to your PC, the printers, whatever you connect.

Or, if just the one computer needs access to the Internet and the printers, you can install/configure a second Ethernet port in the PC, connect it and the printers to the switch, and give them all static IPs in a private address space (e.g., 192.168.1.0/24)

Two pc connection by dlink switch

connect the router to the switch using any port-it does not matter which port you use. Connect each computer to any port on the switch-it matters not. The router will assign IP address to the computer as they are added.

DONE!!!

Connecting to console

The proper way to console to a switch (at least as far as Cisco Catalyst Switches are concerned) is a rollover cable and a DB9 adapter... I then use HyperTerminal to connect..

What type of switch are you connecting to, and what kind of hardware are you using?

I always use Cisco for networking (Cisco is the king of switches and routers).. here is their step by step for connecting to one of their swtiches:
