Which OS did u setup in your computer? if its windows XP, default user will be given admin right. so you can login by default and dont have to worry about admin rights like download or delete.

Try to boot in safe mode, you will see a user called administrator. this user is created by default. Login into that user and create a new user with admin rights. You can use the new user login with admin rights to download and delete.

Press F8 key continously when you see black screen while booting to see options of boot. Select safe mode and you will boot your computer in safe mode.

    Take care

I need a password

You may have to reset the modem. Hopefully you have all the details on hand for your broadband account available? That way once the details are in you can set the administrative password to whatever you wish. But write it down & put it somewhere safe. :)

Forgot password

Check to see if someone wrote down the password and taped it to your router, hopefully!
If not you will need to log into the administration page of the router with a hardwired computer not wireless open a browser and type into the address and press enter, the logon page will open, the default username and password are blank just press enter.

Once you are in navigate to the wireless tab and then wireless security. You should see the wireless password and can write it down and use it to connect your device.

If you cannot log in then someone has changed the default password and you will have to do a hard reset, hold the rest button for 10 seconds, this will wipe the memory and set it back to factory specifications and you will have to setup all your wireless computers printers, faxes to the new wireless name and password that you create

II have the modem SL2-141 and I change the password and now I forgot it? How can I recover it or reset the password?

I believe the Siemens "SL2-141" is a wireless router (not a "modem"). So I assume you are looking to retrieve/reset the password for your router. (If that's not correct, please let me know.)

There are typically two separate passwords used with a router, and it's not clear which type you're referring to. Are you trying to access the web-based configuration page for the router (for which you need an administrator password)? Or are you trying to make a wireless connection to the Internet via the router (for which you need the wireless security key)?

You may be able to retrieve either password (or both). The administrator password would be stored in the computer that was used to configure the router. The security key should be in the computer which configured the router, as well as any computer which made a wireless connection to the router.

You may find it helpful to have the owner's manual available. (If you don't have that, you may download a copy at:

The web-based settings for the router should be accessible at this URL (for the computer connected to the router):
The default user name is "admin", and the default password is "admin" If you can access those settings, you should be able to view the security key, or to reset the key (see pp. 99-101).

Alternatively, if the passwords are stored, you should be able to retrieve them by installing some free software.

For the computer that configured the router, download and install this program:
RouterPassView by NirSoft

For a laptop that connected to the router, download and install this program:
by NirSoft

Finally, if you are unable to retrieve the password(s) by the above methods, then you may need to reset the router to its factory default. Note that this will delete any settings you have made (including administrator password and security key). You would then need to reinstall and reconfigure the router, starting from scratch.

If you can access the web-based settings for the router, you may then reset the router to its default by following the onscreen guidance (see p. 102 of the manual). If you can't access the web-based settings, then you can still reset the router using the physical reset button (see p. 111).. (There should be a small pinhole on the rear of the unit - simply insert a small firm object and press firmly for 10-20 seconds.)

I am trying to add a new mac ip address to my wireless router i started with 1 pc then brought a laptop and a wireless d-link router they work fine i just brought home another pc it has a card put through...

Please follow the steps mentioned below on the Computer where the internet connection is working normally and check if the issue is resolved.

  • Please type "" into the address bar, then hit "Enter" or "Return."
  • Please Use "Admin" as the user name and leave the password blank when the login screen appears.
  • Please click on Wireless, enter the Wireless SSID name (name for the Network) and under Security, select the Security type and type the Security Key.
  • Save the settings and try to connect to Wireless on the Computer having the issue.
  • It will ask for the Security Key, enter the Security Key provided during the Wireless setup.
This should resolve the issue.
If the issue is not resolved, reset the Router to factory settings and then try connecting.
Please try to locate the Reset button near the Ethernet ports and press for 10 seconds.

Good Luck!!!!
Please let me know if you require further assistance.
Thank you for contacting.

How do i set a password to protect my wireless internet

Access the Router's page and go to Wireless configuration. You may assigned a WEP key that uses hexadecimal value (A-F, 0-9). So if someone attempts to access your Wireless network, they will prompt to enter a Wep key.
