Question about Compaq Computers & Internet
Take a look at the "back" of your desktop computer.
Look for a "square" socket, with 4 (not 8) parallel gold wires inside the socket.
You may see _two_ such sockets, side-by-side -- if you do, you certainly _do_ have a dial-up analog modem.
If the socket has 8 wires, it is your network-port (connect an Ethernet cable into that socket).
Right-mouse-click My Computer.
Click Device Manager.
Is there a "branch" of the hardware "tree" for 'modem' devices?
Is the modem listed in GREEN, or is it coloured YELLOW or RED,
meaning that the software for the modem is not correctly installed.
