Question about Audiovox Televison & Video

1 Answer

I just had a cable box hooked up to my Audiovox 19" w/built in DVD & after 2 days it just shut off while watching & gave me a blank picture. I owned this TV for 2 yrs and only used the DVD until now. I called the cable co & there is nothing wrong on their end and said it has to be the TV.

If the DVD is playing well on the TV then it is possible that the tuner of the TV is faulty.Replace with the same type.If however there is absence of picture even with the DVD then it is possible that the IF section/decorder/AV signalprocessing sections can be defective.
The test to find out the failure of the suspected section is by a voltage check or a signal analysis with a CRO----Since this is beyond the scope of a DIY iwould advise thatyou take help.
Finally take a quick checkfor break of working voltage to the above sections.Check the 12V and 5V rail to these sections.Apossible fusible open resistor regulator in this section must be checked.

In this case the tuner is faulty, that is the unit to which your RF pin of the cable goes in.

Alternativily you can choose a digital box from your cable operator which has a video/audio output that can be connected to the AV socket which incidentley is working ( as the DVD is working)

Just try on this .. I am off now but if there is any more help will get in touch.

    Dont forget to rate me.

My 19 inch Emerson tv screen has went blue an no picture isn't showing

Sounds like a bad connection to whatever you have it connected to (cable box, dvd player, etc). Check the connection and then replace cables.

Precision TV - PTV2548 no sound when your watching cable but there is sound forvideo input

may be the source itself(i.e. cable box) also check cables between cable box & TV. If you are connecting the DVD to the same input the cable box is installed, You know that input on the TV is OK. If you get no audio when the DVD is connected to the same input as cable box, then issue is the MAIN PCB.

I am trying to hook my audiovox dv1202 up to a TV. The video is working, but I cannot figure out how to connect the audio.

The manual helps.

Break it down. DVD Video goes TO the TV but you want the >>>audio<<< for TV programs FROM it, or perhaps from wherever IT originates. Your TV no doubt has audio output(s) that will work. If you have a Cable Box it, too, will have superior audio outputs. Unfortunately, this unit is NOT an AVR or it would be able to accept coaxial Digital Audio Output from a Cable Box or other source. Instead you have to use the AV IN RCA jacks (Item B, page 12) from either the TV or the Cable Box. You're stuck with analog 2-channel audio.

Attenna hook up

Yes, This set does not have a digital tuner built in. All over the air signals are now digital. This set will work without a converter if hooked up to standard cable,DVD,VCR or Video game console. If you purchase a DVD with a digital tuner built in you can skip the converter box and hook your HDTV antenna directly to it.

I have BOSE speakers plugged into a small lcd tv. when the tv is off, I'm still hearing cable audio. why? i'll clarify. my tv has rca jacks connecting it to a couple of small bose speakers. sounds...

Your TV output is a pass-thru from the coax cable then. The only solution- turn the volume down, or unplug them.. Or get a cable box. A VCR may work as a temporary cable box, and if you have a remote for it, you should be able to just turn off the audio at any time with a VCR remote. (unless the VCR also has a pass-thru only audio output)

Has the sound, but White screen only. No picture.

Video issues are almost always caused by a bad tcon board, you can try cleaning the LVDS cable that goes into the board and the 2 flat cables going to the panel if you would like and see if that helps, do this with the set unplugged, not just shut off.

Make sure none of the Digital or Component Input Assignments are programmed, if you're not using them. Set them to "----". This may help. Some of the Component input assignments may over-ride your other input assignments (perhaps even the HDMI input assignments).

I'm simply looking for the most efficient way to hook up my HD-TV with HDMI inputs to both my cable box (with HDMI inputs) and my DVD player/recorder so that I can record from the TV I watch.  ...

The way you have it hooked up right now will not work unless you have a coaxial out on your cable box going to the dvd recorder. Even then, picture quality will be severely degraded. The best way to do it is to leave your cable box hooked up to your TV via HDMI and connect your dvd recorder to your cable box via component video if your dvd recorder has a component video input. If it doesn't, then just use the composite video input. That way your picture quality will be better and you will still be able to record with the TV off.

Hooking up my DVD/VHS player to TV & Convertor box

I would just hook up the dvd/vhs player with the red, white, yellow rca cables that should of come with your unit and just go to the input on the tv to watch your dvd/vhs player. This will give you a better picture and sound while allowing you not to have to watch dvd/vhs on a channel which helps make the dvd/vhs player independent. Also if possible I would hook the converter box up with the red, white, yellow rca cables to the tv as well if your tv has more than one set of red, white, yellow plugs since it is a better connection that coax and you probably watch more tv than vhs/dvd anyway. So bottom line try to hook up both boxes red, white, yellow and watch each box on different inputs instead of like channel 3 or 4. Also to record of converter box you can run coax from converter box to dvd/vhs combo and make sure your dvd/vhs player is on tuner input or channel 3.
