Howdy, I was able to find this manual:http://www.riccar.com/ftp/whitepapers/1570-6950-bl2800-695.pdf

I did not see the exploded view, though, there is a picture of the assembles tensioner, which may help some. sorry I couldn't find better for you.

My daughter removed the tension dial on her empisal em 250 sewing machine. I have tried to put it back correctly but the bottom thread is so loose every time i sew. i think i have not put it back...

Hi. Start by taking everything back off. There should be the knob, a spring, two matching discs and one disc that is smaller than the other two. The two matching discs should go on first and should mirror one another with the flaring edges both facing out from where the discs touch. Then goes the smaller disc, then the spring with the larger end on the discs. Screw on the knob with the numbers facing out, all the way down till it stops and that should be the maximum setting. Back it off all the way to where the tension is indicated as 3 for your starting point. By the way, do all of that with the foot lowered. Raising the foot should separate the tension discs, which makes it possible to pull your work piece out from under the sewing area without breaking the thread.

Just inherited a kenmore ultra stitch 6 sewing machine (model 13402) and i think the top thread tension control knob might be broken. Can i get a fix it part from somewhere/ can it be fixed? Thank you so...

You can buy this part here
http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/tension-kenmore-mo-2052.aspx so I'd say it is certainly repairable.

However, installing it may be something you get a serviceperson to tackle, just depends on how easy it is to access the machine. etc. Another Fixya expert may have done this type of repair before but I haven't.

The other option is to take the machine to a local sewing machine repair person and get a quote to replace the tension dial and give the machine a service at the same time; this will mean you'll know the machine is working correctly, has been cleaned and lubricated and you'll be able to start fresh with it.

Cant thread cotton correctly resulting in top cotton bunching around bobbin on my elna carina su sewing machine

Hi. Correct threading of your machine is absolutely essential for flawless function. I would suggest starting fresh, removing upper thread completely. For correct function, every threading point needs to be passed in the correct order. Every hole or thread guide should have thread going through it. Use a tweezer and pass the end of the cotton through each point, paying special attention to the tension discs and take-up lever. Double check to make sure you have light but firm tension on the thread (having lowered the presser foot, because tension is released when foot is up). Rotate the hand wheel slowly in it's normal direction to check function before attempting to sew.

RELEASE slightly some the bobbin screw. don't release it too much as if it may worn out.

Hello, I have a Viking Topaz sewing machine, the top thread is visible on the underside of fabric, indicating a tension problem. I have cleaned the machine, turned it off and back on, rethread it numberous...

Thread, Tension, Needle.

Make sure your needle matches your application. example: heavy denim needs a heavy needle (90-100) instead of the "universal" needle that usually comes with a machine.

Also make sure that when you thread your machine that you have the pressure foot in the up position. Many machines release the tension discs in this position allowing for proper threading. Also make sure there is no fluff, lint, etc., in your tension areas.

I have a Janome 8048. Here's my problem: As I sew I notice that the stitches on the top of the fabric look the way they should on the bottom side and when I take the material off the machine and flip it...

I haven't sewn in years. A sewing machine has a tension control on top and on the bobbin. If the intersection of the top and bottom threads is not in the middle of the sewn material, you have to adjust your tension.
In your case, what I think you are saying is that the stitch on top is just a straight line and on the back it disappears into the fabric.
To correct this, lower the top tension by loosening the tension adjuster on the thread where the thread loops around the small pulley.
Also, you could tighten the tension on the bobbin by slightly tightening the small screw on the side of the bobbin.

It dose not sew, and when it dose the bobbin tangles up and lets out too much thread

The bobbin goes into the holder in what would appear to be the wrong direction ie, the thread doubles back. If this is correct, the bobbin tension might be too low, there is a screw on the bobbin holder to set the tension.
