Question about Emerson MW8107WA Microwave Oven

1 Answer

My emerson mw8107wa microwave oven makes a very loud grinding noise when running. At first I thought it was maybe the turntable not being properly seated, but no matter how often I remove and replace it, the sound doesn't go away. In fact, it's gotten worse. Thanks in advance for helping with this, Kitty Shields

If it doesn't heat; it's probably a shorted magnetron and/or diode.

Thanks so much for the quick response! I guess it would have helped though if I had said that it does heat. It works; just makes that awful noise, but not every time. Any other ideas? Thanks again ~ K

My microwave makes a grinding noise when running and the turntable doesn't work.

Possible there is friction within the drive , the shaft or the motor. You can remove and RESET the drive. Remove the motor , MANUALLY check the motion of the mechanism which will confirm the case. You c an reset using a bit of lubrication.

Panasonic microwave nn-s963bf making grinding noise

The turntable system consists of the motor, the coupler, the turntable support with rollers, and the tray.

You can see and hear a video of how a turntable motor should sound when you rotate it by hand.

If yours is not set to be off via the control panel, and it won't rotate or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or plastic coupler.

To replace either, you need to unplug power, then remove the bottom cover of the oven.

You can
order parts for this brand from Encompass (formerly Tritronics). Or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.

Glass top of oven

This is something out of an Emerson MW8107WA microwave?

I knew they used glass turntable trays...

If this is not right, could you repost the correct brand and model number?

Thanks very much.

Turntable failure

You probably have a defective turntable motor. They are fairly simple to replace and generally runs about $30-$35. You can access the motor by removing the bottom panel from the microwave. There are a couple of wire connectors and a few screws holding it in. You will, of course need to secure the main power and/or unplug the unit first. The spindle that the carousel and plate ride on, just pops off by lifting straight up from the inside of the oven cavity. Let me know if you need any further advice. I hope this helps you.
