SOURCE: Power cord and battery's support NO power to Video Camera

This incident happens often and damages the camcorder's power board. Replacing power board and some adjustment should resolved the problem. Your cost may run from $175-$225 in US for this model. Whenever you are transfering and connecting to pc, it is recommended to connect AC adapter power for this. Do not rely on a charged battery. Good luck.

I know how to fix the Zoom problem but not giving it away free. It's not easy, you need special tools and it;s not a software problem. This includes certainCanon Elura, Samsung and Panasonic Camcorders. I can fix them here but will not front shipping. How do I handle this?

SOURCE: Elura 60 Zoom Problem

Guys, so weird but on another site it offered this suggestion: banged the base of your camera against something hard and it will become unstuck. So bang the base of your camera against something hard and it will work again, at least it works like it did but not sure for how long. Good luck. I can't believe that worked. Give it a try. I didnt hit it too hard either.

Hi,

By placing the POWER switch into CAMERA mode, you will then be able to press the MENU button, and access all camera adjustments....including the LCD function.

When I try to take video, my Elura 70 shows only a black LCD screen and viewfinder. I do see all the camera functions on the screen but no image. I can record and playback a black screen with proper sound....

This is usually caused by a defective CCD image sensor and can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

Eject Cassette Problem

Hi,

I am sorry to hear regarding this problem. This is actually due to Camera's faulty mechanism and would require replacement as well. I am not discouraging you, But its a big no to DIY job.

Now,

This is a major problem on most of the Canon's camcorder might be due to faulty arrangement of tools in it. Usually, they charged around $75 ( Including VAT ) and offers 6 months warranty. I am still not sure why they quoted even more than double.

Secondly, If you would be lucky enough, you can go for Drop Carpet Method. I have no answer why it works but might be Camcorder needs a shock :(

Note - This is risky as well. You might lose the screen. Do it Yourself on your risk.We would not be responsible for Damage in any how.

Some people even used a Shoe Box and it worked. ( I am still prefer you to use carpet ).

Drop the camcorder 3 times and that's it. It worked like charm for many people ( Still no answer, Not one or two - Thousands of people got the same result ).

If you are lucky enough, you would get it fixed unless get a better quote from Canon.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Canon Elura 60 won't power up

The same thing happened to mine soon after I got it. Turned out the plug I was using to plug it into the wall to charge had gone bad. The replacement was over $100 so I went with a (cheaper) wall battery charger that you conect the battery to.

Your Canon Elura 70

Thanks Benimur. The first posted solution worked like a charm. I banged the bottom of the camera hard on a book 3 times (what did I have to loose?) and not only did it begin recording properly, but the things I recorded on the faulty setting played fine as well. Weird stuff, really............

I have one of these too and unfortunately they have many bugs. Every time I have a problem with my camera I just have to bang on it a little bit or wait out the problem. I have read too many forum entries with people saying they have sent it back and not received proper help. I just wanted you to know you're not the only one out there! Good luck.

Get eject tape message

I had this problem this weekend with an Elura 65, where the camera would not accept a tape. If you inserted a tape, it would beep a few times, the LCD screen would flash "REMOVE CASSETTE TAPE" and then it would spit the tape out. I had the camcorder stored in a ziplock bag in a cool / dry cabinet in our spare bedroom. None of the previous solutions worked for me (clean the heads, take out the batteries, remove power for 20 minutes, remove the memory card, etc).

What worked for me:
I left the main battery in, installed the small memory battery, installed the SD memory card and plugged in the power cord. I left the camera out (close to my computer), which is upstairs in my house- in a 70-75 degree Farenheight environment - for 24hrs. After 24hrs of sitting out and being plugged in to power, I suspect everything came to an ambient temperature and the camera worked fine. (you might try up to 48hrs of being warm)

I suspect that most people's cameras are having this trouble when the internal parts of the camera are not all warmed up so the camera will reject a tape because something is NOT functioning properly when cold.

If you look at the timing of these postings, you will see that most people are posting issues in the cold winter months. I won't buy another Canon Camcorder, but am appeased at it coming back to life long enough for me to download my information to my computer.

If you call the service support for Canon (which I did), they will ask you for your serial number, model, date of purchase, name, email address & mailing address. They will ask you to mial your camera along with the printed information above and detail your problem. It will take 7-10 business days for someone to contact you via email or phone.

Good luck with your camcorders!

Tape Ejection Problem

I have both the willful zoom and the unwilling cassette problems. In the past I have briefly fixed the zoom by opening the door and gently probing the cable to the zoom button. This only worked for a couple of weeks then reverted to same crazed performance. Then last month the "remove the cassette" madness started (bear in mind, I have only recorded perhaps 15 cassettes on this damn thing). Nothing worked. Until tonight when I simply lightly smacked the unit down flat on the manual resting on my desktop. Did this a few times and BOTH the zoom and cassette door started responding properly. I'll see how long this lasts, but it beats buying a new one or dealing with Canon. Never again.
