Question about Samsung Televison & Video

Open Question

SAMSUNG LED DLP TV and the Model Number is HLT6187SX/XAA. The picture is neat and clear and do not have any issues but the actual/original color is lost. To relate the issue I would say it just looks like watching black and white TV/movie/picture but with more of blue and green color dominated and could not see the actual/original color. However, I can the picture and can identify the people/characters without issues. On the phone, the service people say, the lamb/bulb is gone and some other say color wheel is gone. But I read from the manual and also internet it seems like it does NOT really use the lambs/bulbs and even color wheels since it has its own technology (LED DLP). Not sure what is the problem and how to proceed with this to fix it. Your help/response in this regard is much appreciated.

SOURCE: Samsung DLP color has gone Muted...Color Wheel or Bulb???

The color wheel or lamp ballast needs replaced...it would be hard to know which without being there to look at to fix the humming problem, neither part is that is that expensive if you price shop, you may want to try one at a time ot save money. Also to fix the picture you need to realigh the DMD board with the help of another person watching the picture.Hope this helps.

SOURCE: when i turn on tvred light comes on then the two

if your tv still turns on and you have a picture then you have a lamp going out, certain tv's have this warning light, however if you have no picture at all you have a lamp out and can be easily changed by ordering the part online, just make sure not to touch the lamp itself when putting the new one in or you may damage it, there is a door on the back where the lamp is located

SOURCE: I have a Samsung 56in

Yes you are right. This is indeed a problem associated with the DMD board. The Chip is not sold seperately , you have to buy the whole board. It is the large board located on whats known as optical block or light engine. The board looks like this. If you can get me the part number off the board, I can find you a replacement

Not clear if set makes it on or not---its a DLP which uses a lamp for brightness so start there and next would be to inspect the color wheel that faces it directly--no broken or missing pieces there?

Maybe your color wheel breaking up, if hit goes no picture or might be the lamp. If color wheel you can see it if you remove the back panel (UNPLUG TV FIRST) it's next to the lamp. Color wheel cost
Appox. $100 & If Blub Cost $75-$100 both can be bought online. Shop by you model #. If not sure what your doing call TV service Tech.

The lamp ballast or Color wheel might be the problem. We have experienced both issues with the tv shutting down. Also check the hours on your lamp as it might be getting old.
