My Philips MP3 got hanged once I tried to charge it through computer.

I would recommend you to try doing a soft reset.

A. Insert a small pin or unfolded paperclip into the reset hole located at the back of the player.
B. Hold until the player shuts down.
C. Power on the player again by using the Power on/off key.

Note: Your songs and data will not be lost or corrupted by a soft reset.

If soft reset does not work, then you may have to use the Device Manager to recover your player:

A. If you have not already installed the Device Manager, follow the on screen instructions to install the Device Manager from the installation CD or download the latest version of the Device Manager application from http://www.philips.com/support.
B. Make sure all other applications Windows Media Player or Windows Explorer that access the device are closed or else Device Manager will not recognize the device. Launch the Device Manager at Start->Programs->Philips Device Manager on your PC. Select the REPAIR tab on the dialogue box.
C. Power off the player. Press and hold the "+" key and then connect it to the PC until you are prompted to release the key.
D. Select the device name SA60xx and then click OK and REPAIR. IMPORTANT: All music & content of your device will be erased once the Player is repaired.
E. Once the repair is complete a dialogue box will pop up; click OK and unplug the Player from the computer.
F. The Device Manager will close automatically once the success message is displayed. Close all opened application and then unplug your device.

Once the Player is disconnected from the computer, the display will show "Firmware Upgrading" for a couple of seconds and then start up as usual.

Hope that helps resolve the issue.

Regards

Anand

Problems with Philips GoGear Vibe MP3 audio video players.

At times you'll find some problems with your GoGear player. Like its freeze, displays "file system error", or hung up on updating 99% or your computer not recognizing it. Most of these problems could be solved with few simple steps.

Firstly, I'd suggest that you do a soft reset of your player. You will find the reset button next to the 'power on' button on the side of the player. Please hold the Reset button using a pen tip or other sharp object for 10 seconds. Now turn it on.

If that doesn't work, you can format the player. Provided its recognized by the computer. Contents may be removed by using this function. So make sure to back up your contents. Here is how to do this:

Connect your GoGear player to your PC. On your computer desktop, double-click "My computer". Double-click on the MP3 player's icon. Right-click on the Internal Storage icon and then select "Format". To repair it you must have the software that came with the player or you can download it from the Philips suppot site. WWW.philips.com/support/. Players that start with SA1xxxx uses Device manager and the Players that start with SA2xxx uses Philips Songbird.

Here is how to Repair your GoGear MP3 player using Device Manager:

Launch Device Manager and click the Tool menu and select "Repair my Philips GoGear", then follow the instructions to perform the repair process.

Here is how to Repair your GoGear MP3 player using Philips Songbird:

Launch Songbird and then connect your player to your computer. Memory corruption

Not garbage - you need the latest firmware upgrade from Philips. Open the Device Manager that came with the install CD, or go to www.usasupport.philips.com to get it, and click on "Update" instead of "Repair." It should lead you through the firmware upgrade process - make sure you are connected to the internet first.
