Hi psans,

Sorry it took sometime, out fishing and with the indulgence of skotkolr...

Re you concern on your laptop display -
Based on your brief description/post, I am assuming that you have a laptop (of unknown make & model) and you have connected an external monitor (again of unknown make & model) but there is no display on the external monitor. You have tried lowering the screen resolution and still a no go.

A couple of ideas:
1. if the external monitor is connected to the laptop using the yellow RCA connector, then you would have to reboot with the external monitor already powered on and connected prior to restarting your laptop. Additionally, if the external monitor is a standard TV you may have to lower down the PC's resolution really all the way down as well as lower the Screen Refresh Rate;
2. it may be necessary to enable external monitor in your laptop's "Display Properties";
3. to cycle through the different display options, you need to press Fn + F? key not 5. The F? depends on what PC you have. it normally is an F key with monitor icon.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

    Try lowering your Screen Refresh Rates to 60Hz.

My first reaction to this is that the video on board is dead however it could be a simple choice mistake, have you tried the display(3rd) option?

How do I project my computer screen onto the screen

Every laptop has a facility to toggle the display from the screen to an external display. The exact method varies from brand to brand. But they're all a variation on the same theme. It's the Function button (Fn) and one of the F keys. On my HP its Fn + F4. I've had laptops in the past where it has been F5 and others that were F8. All of them though had a little symbol representing a screen on the correct key.

The way it works is that the laptop screen is on. The first press of the two buttons will put both screens on. The next press is just the output to the projector. The final press brings it round to the laptop only again.

Once you have just the projector running, then you should change the display resolution to suit the projector if the laptop hasn't already done it for you. You can tell when it's wrong because the text won't be crisp. The Powewrlite S1+ has a resolution of 800x600. Right click on the PC desktop and then select "graphics properties" or similar from the menu. Change the resolution from the drop down box. Click OK to confirm.

Touch Freeze, a free utility program may help fix that problem. I assume this just started to happen, correct?
If that fails, try another keyboard, preferably a USB Wireless Mouse/Keyboard.

I'm not sure I have the right Question. I have a Toshiba Laptop. Somehow I have increased the page size that has placed the "X" to close the page out of sight.

Toshiba have a zooming utility. Here are the controls for it

Press and hold the "Fn" key and the "2" key to zoom in, and press and hold the "Fn" key and the "1" key to zoom out

Laptop display problems

Hi Neela

Thank you for your query

Please try the following

1) Right Click in the middle of the desktop
2) Click on Properties
3) In the display settings box that appears click on the tab that says settings
4) The settings can be adjusted from here i..e screen resolution and colour quality, the display adapter can also be checked to ensure it is correct i.e. yours should be something like nvidia etc etc

I have an hp ze2000. I hooked it up to an external monitor. When I unhooked it and restarted it my laptop screen now stays blank. Who knows the answer to this?

I think you have to reset through setup F12 or is it F8 restart and push one or the other, then locate menu for screen click to enable.

Haven't come across this before. Best I can suggest?

I used The FN and F5 key and it worked

Go to the point where you have a stable picture even if it is huge. Right click on an empty space on the desktop and scroll down to properties. Click on settings and increase the resolution a little at a time hitting apply and checking the display as you go. Keep hitting ok to the display settings if you like them. Find the resolution and display size that suites you.

Evo N600C screen smaller than whole monitor screen

This is not a resolution problem.

Instead press Fn - T at the same time. This toggles between the normal mode and the 'minimized' mode. I am not sure why you ever want this smaller mode though. My wife accidently did the same thing you did. It took a little while to figure it out since it also affected the screen size even before Windows 'kicked in'.

No display, nothing on screen

Try to hit the Fn+F8 button at the same time 5 or 6 times. This is what is used to turn off your LCD to plug it to a projector or to use a different screen. If that does not work then try to find a desktop monitor and plug it into the 9-pin slot on your laptop. Again hit the FN+F8 buttons again, if the display shows up on the desktop screen then you know that something has burnt out your LCD screen on your laptop.
