I had the same problem. Indicator flashing. F7 displayed. Nothing seems to work.
The following worked for me:
Remove the filter on the floor of the machine, including the metal grill.
Press & hold the start button (like you do when you want to cancel a programme). this will drain the water out of your clogged up drain outlet. Clean your filter and grill and replace it.

My guess is that the sensor in the drain (a little glass tube) measures whether the water going out is clean enough to decide that your dishes are now rinsed correctly. If your filter's clogged, the water going down the drain is still dirty. After a while it gets sick of trying and stops the machine.
F7 in whirlpoolese may mean "Clean my filter now or you can wash your own bloody dishes"

You can download the manual on the whirlpool site. Just enter the model number.

one of 2 things, either you have a bad door switch/latch assy and its not recognizing the door closing, or up have a "stuck keypad" preventing proper operation in which case youll need to replace the keypad/console. if you remove the lower acess panel there is a "tech sheet" explaining different faults and checks for your issue
