SOURCE: Fujitsi Simens Amilo D Laptop Buffer / CMOS battery problem

Hey man!I think I can help ya!I have an AMILO D 7830.I hope that yours is like mine. Turn the laptop upside down and then you'll see it's bottom!:P Alright now you can see two sides that can be unscrewed. The one that is to the opposite side of the cd drive is the one that can really be unscrewed. The other one has more screws that are covered. So,unscrew the side I said before and then you'll be seeing the battery the ram cards and some other stuff I don't know what they are.:P Now look closely to the opposite side of the battery and under the metal case.Somewhere there in the dark is your battery lying and waiting for you!I hope I 've helped you enough!

SOURCE: Amilo Pro V2030 - Wont Boot

HI there
Have a look very close at the monitor for a very faint ghost image, if you see one then the inverter or inverter coil has gone.
Another way is to plug an external monitor to the laptop to rule out other problems.
Post back if you need to.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!!

If the computers lights are just yellow what does that mean?

Just Yellow when? Tell us what happens time you put the power cord in and press the power button? Does it try to boot? Do the lights blink? Hear any beeps? Hear any fans? Does anything ever appear on the screen?

When you plug in the power cord is there any lightswhatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of thepower cord?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear theDvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for asecond or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, butthe screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous.

Maybe your power cord is bad if you don't get anything to happen whatsoeverwhen you press the power button. And if that's true maybe you wasoperating off the battery the last time you had it on and since the power cordis bad, it was not charging the battery so the battery is drained and the powercord is bad.

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove theBattery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in (leave the batteryout) and hit the power button to see if it boots. If it does, you can putthe battery back in and let it charge. Remove the Power Cord, Remove the Battery, Remove the Memory Cover on the bottom of the laptop and remove one of thememory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x onit with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the nextmemory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set itaside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If itboots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and putit into the open memory chip slot and try booting.

Toshiba satellitep205d-s7438 won't boot up

You need to be more specific and tell what happens when you plug in the power cord and press the power button. There are a number of reason why a computer will not boot, but if you tell what's going on someone can help you.

Computers don't boot for basically the following reasons, 1) the power supply is bad. That means when you plug it in you don't see any lights, and when you press the power button nothing happens, you hear no fans, no beeps, no blinking lights, no hard drive spinning, no cd drive clicking and nothing appears on the lcd screen.

2) A motherboard issue, usually when this happens you will either see blinking lights or hear beeps. Those blinking lights and beeps are codes that tell the technician what is really going on.

3) Static Buildup - try removing the battery and the power cord then Press and Hold the Power Button for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds put the power cord back in (leave the battery out) and Press the Power Button. If it boots up you had static buildup and can replace the battery, count your blessings and Thank The Lord cuz a dishonest repairman would have told you he had to replace the motherboard for $300

Hi,

Improve the Fixya.com experience for everyone by voting!

Unfortunately, I would either have to be in the chat mode or on the telephone with you to fully analyze your problem and provide a coherent answer. But don't despair because there is a little FREE program that may solve your problem.

It happens periodically that our computer shuts down, restarts, hibernates or some other weird thing when we really don't want it to. I'm going to pass on to you a FREE and hard to believe program from Microsoft! I have no idea why this little program hasn't been advertised but then I don't own their stock.

Just click on the following link and your problem should be solved: Download Microsoft's Fixit

I don't know your skill level so my suggestion is that you utilize the automatic function of Fixit.

Be a hero and fix your friends' computers; just don't tell them how you did it! That will be our little secret.

All the best,

Ben

Go through my guide entitled My Computer is not turning on!!! Is it dead!!! No POST!!!

However since the computer was only purchased a month ago I would say that it is still under warranty. Claim warranty support.

Laptop Toshiba Satellite A200 Model No. PSAF6A-02C01N fail boot

Try removing / swapping / reseating the memory.

Try booting with one stick only, if the top slot doesn't work, try booting the bottom slot. Try both sticks.

Let me know what happens.

Driver not recognized 3200 maxtor

Hello Ok, here is a couple of thing we can try to resolve your problem. Firstly, power down the computer, unplug all the wires from the external, plug all back in, and start the computer with the drive attached. This usually solve this problem, the other thing is, if you turn on the external can you hear the drive spinning up? If not, i will suggestthat you try a new ac adapter...This will almost always solve this problem. The thing is, It's not supplying enough power to do anything but turn that silly little green/blue light on, thus, windows cannot recognise the drive, or, the drive won't start spinning. Please do nt hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance. Try the above steps, and let me know what happens. Kind Regards Andrea

Check the power supply area. Also, you cannot use any computer without a working memory module inserted in it. Try inserting a working memory module.

boot up as normal...wiat a minute or so ...press and hold power button until pc shuts down completly(you can hear this) a light should be lit momenterily and then fade off.
you may now be able to reboot.
