If this engine is a briggs ohv unit

try adjusting the valves so that decompressor can do its thing
and decompress the engine for easier starting

valve clearance is sett @ 1/4 inch tdc on power stroke to 0.003 " inlet and 0.005" exhaust
on briggs alloy push rod is inlet and steel one is exhaust
the bottom valve assy is inlet and top one is exhaust
because of cross flow design of engine

but check battery positive cable and negative cable to earth and make sure good connections - check your starter motor earthing and bushes

if kohler engine with hydraulic lifters make sure you use 10w/30 oil not sae 30 oil or it wont decompress properly

cheers

I got lancer ck2 model 1999 year I start the car bt its nt possible.i hv new battery everything bt still cnt start whts wrong help

When you turn the contact key; do you hear the pump humming? Do you have power going to the ignition coil? Is the power going to the spark plug? (unscrew one, lay it on the engine connected to its wire, check for a spark when activating the starter.)

Spark plug blew out now car wont start

sounds like the autoshutoff relay may be bad..it controls the ingition and the fuel pump too..if the pump works check for spark by inserting a screwdriver into a pulled off spark plug wire and look for a decent spark between the screwdriver shaft and any ground like the block..if no spark the relay may not be powering up the ignition system..

I have a yzf600r. it started yesterday. but then i put in a new battery and niw it won't start. Its like its not getting any gas.

so I take it that the 600 is turning over with the new battery. Did you check the fuel lever? You might have turned it to off when you dropped in the new battery. Otherwise start trouble shooting, Is it getting spark? Take one of the spark plugs out and put the lead wire back on it then touch the bottom the spark plug to metal and turn it over...you should see some spark.Do this to all spark plugs. Then on to fuel, take the fuel feed line off, turn it over and see if fuel sperts out of the line. If all thats good, I would remove the carb. and clean it. Hope this kinda helps :)

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

From start to end troubleshooting these problems I suggest you to check the help link below and follow its procedure: -----

I have a 2003 Ninja 636 that has been sitting for 3 years. I just changed the battery and added new gas to the old gas that has been in the tank for the last 3 years. It still wont start. Any trouble...

Sheeesh 3yr old gas is'nt gas any more, drain the tank and fill with 93 octane add injector cleaner. change spark plugs. Be prepared to charge battery. Good luck!

I put new plugs in and a new battery. It will

No it cannot. If the switch was bad the bike would not turn over. Use an old plug to check for spark. Just pull one of the plug wires off the plug in the engine and shove the loose plug into it. Ground the metal part of the plug against the engine and turn the engine over. If you have no spark the wires on the starter relay switch could be your problem. Make sure they are all clean and tight. Ditto for the wires on the battery. If you have spark smell the exhaust pipes. If they stink the gas in the bike may be too old to fire. If it stinks like a dead rat you need to drain all the gas you can out the bike ( carbs too) and replace it with live gas. If you have spark and good gas is there any possibility you accidentally reversed the plug wires?
Good luck.

97 sebring lxi, 2.5L - car died leaving driveway. wont start. been running fine, no noises, hiccups and nothing when it died. battery good, changed plugs, fuel pump buzzes when key is turned, engine cranks...

first thing you got to do is determen weather its electrical or fuel problem, you can take a test light and hook to a ground and the light end to a spark plug and see if it lights while someone turns over engine, if it lights you got spark. if its got spark, on to fuel, take fuel pressure test, don't think because you can hear pump working does not mean it is, it can sound like it is but its not, at least putting out enought pressure, not the correct amount it will not run. pumps will go out just that way with no warning at all.
