Question about HP Pavilion 533w (P9859AR#ABA) PC Desktop

1 Answer

The picture scrambles several times during the day and the only way to stop it is shut the computer off at the tower and then restart and reboot. We borrowed a monitor to see if that was the problem but it still does the scrambling......we never know when or how many times a day it will happen. HP Pavillion 533w. We do not know what else to try.

The picture scrambles because the video chip overheats and malfunctions. Open the case and do a full cleaning. If necessary add an extra fan - $10 at all IT shops.

Gateway MT6840 unexpectedly shut down and wouldn't

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

I suggest you wait at least 1 hr before trying to restart it. Leave the laptop off during this time. This will give enough time to the CPU and other components to cool down.

Why does my computer suddenly shut down during use?

remove the side panel and have a look if your cpu fan is turning.... you may need to blow the dust and dirt out of it as well... if the tower even feels remotely warm that's likely the issue... also check the fan on the power supply. either way it will likely need to be cleaned

My computer won't shut down it just keeps restarting

The most common shut down problem is that the system will reboot rather than shutting down. In most cases, the reboot is triggered because Windows XP is designed to reboot after a critical failure. To stop windows from rebooting in case of a failure, you need to take the following steps:
Right click on My Computer, Select Properties, Click on advance tab, Click on Settings under Startup and Recovery, Uncheck the option Automatically Restart under System failure, Click Ok twice and try to shutdown the pc. If it shows any error code then let me know

Try rebooting to Safe Mode. Right-click on My Computer and hit Properties. In the System Properties window, click on Advanced. Then click on Startup/Recovery Settings. Uncheck Automatic Restart. Then post the BSOD Stop Code here.

Constant rebooting of a computer can be cause by alot of reason the most common for this is due to oevrheating, to check if this is a overheating problem try to open the case of the tower and put a electric fan in front of the tower to coll it down then power ON thecomputer and if it booted up fine with a electric fan blowing on the tower we're sure that you need to add some colling device on the computer tower, But if still do the same thing the problem here is the power supply unit it needs a replacement already....

The control panel stays lit after cycle ends. it won't shut off and beeps several times during cycle

Hello grumpy 96
Welcome,

You said, the control panel stays lit after cycle ends. it won't shut off and beeps several times during cycle

First try Pressing STOP/CANCEL to clear the display.
If this does not do the trick.

Sounds like we need to try to reset the system!

Huuum At your service!
Lets try this,
Like with an error code.
This can reset the system if it is electronic!
Unplug the appliance and wait a 5 minutes then restart it.
If you can't reach the plug, use the breaker to cut the power for 5 minutes.

It's like rebooting your computer when its acting strange!
Usually it corrects some error problems if they are not serious.
Or they are sometimes just a glitch.

Let me know how it works!
Waiting for your reply!

Please remember to leave a rating when you are done!
Thank You
Huuum

Help 2005 computer not working

if you mean that it kept restarting, this is a sign that the bios is corrupt and you will have to remove the side of the pc tower and on the motherboard look for a 2 terminal commector, this can be labelled CLRCMOS, CLRRTC,or a 3 pin JBAT1, there will be a plastic cap if its a JBAT1 terminal, put from pins 1-2 to pins 2-3 then back again, if its the others then they have to be shorted by placing a cap across the two terminals. restart pc and press f2 to reset time and date and save and exit, it should then boot back up.
