How old is the TV? Generally when the Red light is on and the TV will not turn on or go Green means it is in protect mode or standby and needs to have repair done to it.

Why would my TV's screen just go blank?

Do you have a power light on "green" on the TV? If not you may have blown a fuse in the Tv. If the TV powers on With black screen,
it could be any number of things. I would need more info to diagnose the problem. For instance, If the TV" Power on" light is "red" and flashing , there is a problem with either the main board or the power supply. this can happen if the surround is hooked up to an input instead of an audio out on the Tv.

Try this
1. Power off both the TV and the DVR.
2. Plug in the HDMI cable to both units.
3. With the DVR off, press and hold the power button on the unit until the word BOOT appears on the display.
4. Wait until the unit reboots and shows the clock again, then power the TV and the DVR up.
5. Choose the appropriate input on the TV for HDMI.
6. Use the SETTINGS button on the DVR remote to get into the "more settings" option.
7. Find audio settings and choose HDMI output, press select.

I am trying to connect my samsung sound bar to my new sharp equos 60 inch LED (Model: LC-60LE600U) an optical cable. I have a direct tv receiver and blue ray player hooked up with hdmi cables. I have...

I just got this TV 3 weeks ago. I noticed the AUDIO issue too.
Every power up, HDMI change etc, I would have to go into the MENU/OPTION/ and toggle the PC IN/HDMI IN setting to get my Optical OUT AUDIO working.

WARNING:

DO NOT UPDATE TO THE NEW FIRMWARE. :(
Tonight I decided to do the Firmware Update on this AQUOS LC-60LE600U with hopes that my audio issues will be fixed.

WRONG... Now I have NO Digital Optical OUTput, and worse, the trick to Toggle (PC IN/HDMI IN) No longer works!!

So now I am out of luck and NO LONGER can use OPTICAL OUT for any of my Dish Network Satellite TV Viewing.

I called SHARP AQUOS Tech Support , firt Rep sucked , had nothing but stupid responses like , use RCA Audio OUT.

Or just plug your OPTICAL OUT from your Dish Network HopperDVR Directly to my A/V Home Theatre Receiver.

I may have to do that afterall!!!!!!! But this simply Bypasses the PROBLEM and doesnt resolve my TV Optical Out Problem.

Then I called , talked to a Very nice guy named Travis. He explained it.
I hope some of you can explain it to be better, but here is what he said.

HDMI has some kind of Digital Content Protection, LLC provides HDCP (which was developed by Intel) for HDMI.
apparently this is the JIST of this he said. Exoplaining some issue where Powers That Be, (BIG MOVIE CORP) or such want to make it so Digital Audio cant pass from HDMI to OPTICAL as easy???????

I dont get it. So it was never supposed to ....... BUT.. The (PC AUDIO IN/HDMI IN) Toggle trick made it work.

Turns out the NEWER Firmware Fixed it so the Toggle Trick WONT WORK.
I cant imagine this is going on. How many Millons of TV Viewers experience this? There has to be more to it than this.
My HOPE..... is to find the OLD Default Firmware for this TV, cause even though a Hassle to TOGGLE on the AUDIO, better than NO AUDIO NOW ! ARGH!!!

Please, if anyone can provide ANY info or firnware files for our AQUOS LC-60LE600U I would be SO MUCH HAPPIER.

Hope this helps everyone!

Is the red light flashing at first?
The unit may be going into protect mode. Lets hope it has done the job and the receiver has protected itself from failure.
Protect mode can result from speaker wires touching each other or the Amps2_bing.gif metal case. Check that first.
It can also be caused by unstable ohm loads if too many speakers2_bing.gif are connected to any of the outputs especially zone 2.
If you can remove all speaker wires and turn the unit back on. If it stays on, turn the volume down on the main zone and zone 2 if connected. Then reconnect speaker wires.

Att uverse receiver hooked up to sharp aquos tv, remote quits

first try new batteries and be sure you have pressed the AT&T mode button at the top left of the remote - if you still have issues then on the sharp tv menu - turn off any energy saver mode, Optical Picture Control, taking the picture mode from dynamic or vivid to standard, and if that doesn't work - try changing the backlight settings if your tv has one.

Problems with Sharp Blu Ray Player "copy protected signal"

Possible solution: You set up your remote to run your amp from the TV control, using the AQUOS Link. Even though your amp is out of the loop, it's still recognized by the TV. You might have to reset the TV back to default and run the AQUOS Link again.

Program TV Code
1. Turn on the TV.
2. Locate the 5-digit code for your TV.
3. Slide the MODE switch to the TV position.
4. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys at the same time until the green light under the TV position flashes twice, then release both keys.
5. Using the number keys enter the 5-digit code for your brand of TV. If performed correctly, the green light under TV flashed twice.
6. Aim the remote at your TV and press the PWR key once. Your TV should turn off. If it does not turn off, repeat steps 3 and 4, trying each code for your brand until you find the correct code.
7. Slide the MODE switch to the DIRECTV position. Press TV POWER. Your TV should turn on.

Program DVD, VCR, Stereo Receiver, and Stereo Amplifier Code
The AV1 and AV2 switch positions can be setup to control a VCR, DVD, STEREO, second DIRECTV Receiver or second

1. Turn on the component you wish to control (e.g. your DVD Player).
2. Locate the 5-digit code for your component.
3. Slide the MODE switch to the AV1 (or AV2) position.
4. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys at the same time until the green light under AV1 (or AV2) flashes twice, then release both keys.
5. Using the NUMBER keys, enter the 5-digit code for the brand of component being set up. If performed correctly, the green light under the selected position flashes twice.
6. Aim the remote at your component and press the PWR key once. The component should turn off; if it does not, repeat steps 3 and 4, trying each code for your brand until you find the correct code.
7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 to set up a new component under AV2 (or AV1).

Unable to Find Correct Code
If you were unable to find the code for your brand of TV or component, you can try a code search. This process may take up to 30 minutes.
1. Turn on the TV or component. Insert a tape or disk if applicable.
2. Slide the MODE switch to the TV, AV1 or AV2 position, as desired.
3. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys at the same time until the green light under the selected switch position flashes twice, then release both keys.
4. Enter 9-9-1 followed by one of the following four digits:
Satellite - 0
TV - 1
VCR/DVD - 2
Stereo Receiver/Stereo Amplifier - 3
5. Press PWR, or other functions (e.g. PLAY for VCR) you want to use.
6. Point the remote at the TV or component and press CHAN+. Repeatedly press CHAN+ until the TV or component turns off.
NOTE: Every time CHAN+ is pressed the remote advances to the next code and power is transmitted to the component.
7. Use the CHAN- key to step back a code.
8. When the TV or component turns off, stop pressing the CHAN+ key. Then, press and release the SELECT key.
NOTE: If the light flashes 3 times before the TV or component responds, you've cycled through all codes and the code you need is not available. You must use the remote that came with your TV or component.

Verifying the Codes
Once you have set up the DIRECTV Universal Remote Control using the above steps, use the following instructions to find out the 5-digit code to which your component responded:
1. Slide the MODE switch to the appropriate position.
2. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys at the same time until the green light under the selected switch position flashes twice, then release both keys.
3. Enter 9-9-0. (The green light under the selected switch position flashes twice.)
4. To view the first digit in the code, Press and release then number 1 key. Wait three seconds, and count the number of times the green light flashes. Write this number down.
5. Repeat step 4 four more times for the remaining digits; i.e., press number 2 for the second digit, 3 for the third digit, 4 for the fourth digit and 5 for the final digit.\

Depending on how you set up your remote, the VOL and MUTE may control the volume only on your TV, regardless of the position of the MODE switch. This remote can be set up so that the VOL and MUTE keys work only with the component selected by the MODE switch. To enable this feature, perform the following steps:
1. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys until the green light under the DIRECTV position flashes twice, then release both keys.
2. Using the number keys, enter 9-9-3. (The green light will flash twice after the 3.)
3. Press and release the VOL+ key. (The green light flashes 4 times.)
Now the VOL and MUTE keys will work only for the component selected by the MODE switch position.

To Lock Volume to AV1, AV2 or TV
1. Slide the MODE switch to the AV1, AV2 or TV position to lock the volume.
2. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys until the green light under the selected switch flashes twice and release both keys.
3. Using the number keys, enter 9-9-3. (The green light flashes twice.)
4. Press and release the SELECT key. (The green light flashes twice.)

Receiver won't put out sound to LCD Sharp aquos

I have the same problem with my Sharp Lcd and Onkyo 804. I believe one problem is that the TV can not accept dolby digital or dts digital audio signals through HDMI. It will play sound if it receives a PCM signal through HDMI. You can try switching the type of signal on the cable box settings and on the dvd player. I switched to PCM and got sound through the TV and the receiver. The problem is that PCM is usually only a 2 channel signal and Dolby 5.1 will sound better through the surround sound theater system. I have not found an absolute solution to this yet, but I am willing to not get sound through the lousy TV speakers in order to get top notch sound through the Onkyo.
