the screen flickers even when the cpu is connected, but if there no cpu connected its always on then it will go off. i had to push the start button again to get it on. what do you think is the problematic part/s?

check for bent pins on the sub-D connector. flex the monitor cable while its turned on.. a cut wire will yield just a flickr. especially the H and V sync lines.
