Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I have a york high efficiency furnace, which i believe has a gas modulator and variable speed blower. When the furnace ramps up the blower to a certain rpm i hear a howling noise which is loud to the point where it wakes us up at night when it happens. The furnace runs great & quiet 90% of the time but makes this irritating noise for some reason every once in the while.

Furnace. Cycles on and off And onduring heat

If it is a newer high efficient furnace, some have what are called 2 stage burners and variable fan speed motors which will do this as to be efficient. If it is still very bothersom to you, have a qualified HVAC person look at it.

The "mother board" or integrated control module is essentially the brain that controls the sequence of operation in your gas fired furnace. It is located, generally, in the blower compartment. That is the bottom of the two compartments of the in the furnace. It looks like a circuit board with all the wires of the furnace leading to it.

The thermocouple could be defective. If this is a high efficiency York furnace, the stack blower should start and run first. If it doesn't the blower controller may have failed.

Can't get the gas furnace to heat.

All York/JCI thermostats made by Venstar

The setup is probably incomplete. Did you configure the thermostat for a 2 stage heat pump? The heat pump should have a thermostat wire connected to R, C, Y1, Y2, and O, that makes 5 wires. I suspect you are only using first stage compression and or first stage blower speed.

Just replaced inducer motor, runs great but furnace will not ignite

Check the pressure switch and the little hoses going to the pressure switch. If the pressure switch does not get a vacum from the blower it will not let the furnace light.

I'm considering installing a Goodman LP Gas Furnace:sizing? Ops?

Gerge, if you go to website
you can do a heat load calc yourself. Basically, you figure out the sizes of walls, total area of glass. total doors to outside, ceiling area and types of building materials used. It is pretty easy and then you will know for sure. The contractor should be suppling you with one but if not use this, it is free!

Fan only runs on high - variable speed goodman gmh0950703bx furnace tried moving wires around to no availe, gas on low flame and still only high fan - help

your variable speed modulator on the fam motor it self has gone bad.
it can be easily removed and unpluged, and repaired by you
i believe goodmans are held on by 3 scres around the hub and a four wire connector back to the control
with out the exact modle of the fan i cannot help you find the modulator
but almost any HVAC supply store in your area will have it on the shelf....very common part
or they may need to order it
but its probably cheaper online somewhere
when you get the model of the var sp cntrl
type it in google
im sure it will pop up in a few hundred hits

Condensation from small blower shorts out circuit board.

Put a plastic bag over the control board that will allow it to breath. you can add sealant to joint but you should clean the old off first. Then use some cork tape after sealant dries. You may also use pvc glue but it will never come out after that, but can be cut w/ saw if that becomes nessary.
