Question about Kitchen Ranges

4 Answers

I have a Jenn-Aire duel fuel oven, two ovens. One convection on bottom and just electric on top. Range is gas. I rewired the outlet for the oven wrong so it only was getting 120 V. This was corrected but now the oven control clicks on and off when the oven is in use. It will heat up to temp but once there it starts clicking on and off. When both ovens are in use the control fades in and out. It seems to work okay if the oven is pulled out away from the wall but once it's back in place the problems come back.

I'm not having problems with the burners. It is the ovens that are at issue. The problem did begin after my wife cleaned the stove and the sparkers on the burners began sparking itermitently. Does the spark module have anything to do with the control panel?

Does the spark module have anything to do with the oven controls? My issue is with the control panel and the ovens. Although the problem did start after the stove burners started sparking for no reason.

    Thanks!

I have a duel fuel oven. The range is gas the ovens are electric. One oven is convection. Made by Jenn-Aire. The oven control panel clicks on and off when the oven is up to temperature. When both ovens are in use the controls fade in and out then starts clicking on and off. This doesn't seem to happen as much when the back is off the oven. When back is on the oven and it is slid back in place it seems to be worse. I recently had an issue with the range burners sparking intermittently but that problem has gone away.

    Thanks! I'll check that out.

What I can say is that when you worked on the electrical connection you may have pulled the oven from the wall. There is a likelihood you have dislodged the gas connector feeding gas into the oven. The click might be of the ignitor trying to light the burners every now and then when the gas supply is obstructed when you push the oven back into into space.

See manual page 24 at the top where it mentions likely problems with gas connector if unit is moved around. Maybe a good idea to get a gas plumber to look at the connections.

Sorry did not see the full transcript of your postings as fixya does not show this when a new consultant looks at the problem.

The behaviour of your ovens when pulled out of the wall and put back in is most likely due to a loose electrical contact. Have you checked the wire sockets are properly screwed in. Including the Earth connection. Also check if the Live and Neutral are in the correct terminals. As mentioned before also check the gas connection is not stressed by the movement.

Hi,
Somewhere back there you have a loose wire... when the oven is pushed back the wire does not make proper connection and so it does not work right....it could be either one of the hots or the nuetral or the ground wires...
pull on every wire hard and make sure they are all tight...also wiggle the plug and make sure that the prongs are all connecting properly...

Hi,

This problem could occur due to two reasons.

1)Thermal sensor.
2)spark module is bad.
3)Excessive dirt.

1)The thermal sensor may be the defective one.Since you say it shuts off.
2)If your spark module has burnt out or If it not being grounded can cause the spark module to fail prematurely.
3)Excessive dirt and grease can cause the burners to light hard but will not cause the spark module to keep on sparking all the time. If a burner lights hard, check the tip of
the spark electrode to make sure it is clean.

post a comment for further assistance.
Thank you for using fixya have a nice day:-)

Oven doesn't heat up all the way on our Jenn-Air duel-fuel range

all repairs should be performed by an authorized service person. if your breakers were tripped there is a high voltage short or weak home breakers. when resetting the breakers make sure the dual breaker switches are in the on position. if the is ok check for the proper voltage is at the power outlet is correct.if it is ok unplug the range. be sure not to break the gas line. remove the rear panel check to see if the power cord power cord is secured to the power cord terminal.if the terminal is damaged do to the shortage at the terminal replace the terminal and power cord. when replacing the power cord and install the power cord restrain that usually comes with the.power cord.

Jenn-Air Gas-Electric Grill Ranfe with Convection Oven M# SVD48600

if possible, squat down in front of the range and put your ear as close to the bottom of the control panel/top of the door when you close it. there is a small motor that pulls the door in when you use the self-cleaning function. perhaps that motor is running all the time? its quite, more of a humm. this could explain why its locking itself. other than that, my convection oven JennAir has a small fan in the back that runs when the oven is on, regular or convections mode. you can see this fan squirel cage in the back wall of the oven. if you were to pull the range out, you will notice (atleast on mine) that there is another much smaller fan on the backside of the range behind the removable metal panel. what the smaller fan is for, i have no idea. so there are two fans, plus if you have the down draft feature, thats 3 total. hope this helps somehow.

Oven panel

First try unplugging or turning off the breaker and see what happens. If that fixes it your good to go if not you probably need a control board. Some of the boards have a fuse but no one changes it as it is soldered onto the control board.
