The heater has only been used with the small 1lb propane bottles. But they have been left connected when not in use. Could these react the same way as the 20lb bottle?

Turn the valve counter clock wise to open in and clock wise direction to close it.if its got stuck on any position, then move it on both direction and then move counter clock wise to open the valve. Check out.Keep updated.Thanks.

When one uses this heater with a 20 lb propane bottle & accessory hose, it is imperative that you always shut the tank off first & let the heater run until it burns off all the fuel in the lines.

If one simply turns the heater knob to the off position, it will trap trap 100 PSI of propane in the accessory hose. When high pressure propane sits in the rubber hose, it will chemically react with the rubber and leetch a light oil. The oil will build up and quickly work its way into the heater, clogging both the regulator & control valve.

Another very important recommendation is to purchase the gas line filter. This will catch the oily residue and protect the combustion components of the heater should one forget to follow the precautions above.

Thanks for keeping updated with the query.

Yes it can be possible. That that is causing the valve lines getting clogged and not letting it to spin.Heat it a bit and release the gas /oil/fuel and get the lines cleared and check.
Thanks for keeping updated with your query.

Big buddy Heater - 20 lb tanks won't keep pilot lit,

I had the same problem I called tech support and they said to turn the valve on the 20# cylinder on very slowly for the first 1/4 turn then all will be fine. There is an excessive flow check valve that causes restricted flow when the valve is opened quickly----------mine works fine now

When mr heater portable buddy is on for about 30minuts control valve sticks on high and even on low when heater cools moves it moves freely

The solution is to contact Mr. Heater tech support. Once I made contact with them they took my complain very seriously and wanted immediately to inspect my unit. They issued a FedEx Pickup request to take my unit back to Ohio. They're sending me a replacement unit which they promised to test before send it it me.

Mr. Heater MRH-MH18B. looking heat a unfinished basment about 1000sq ft

If you're asking if the Mr heater you referenced will heat 1000 sq ft, it won't. You'll need at least 32,000 Btu's to heat that much space. Either a gas mounted convection or infrared wall heater or a vent-free gas fireplace, that has a maximum heat out put of 32,000 Btu's should do the trick. Keep in mind, the air temperature in a basement, doesn't change more than 10 degrees F, thru out the year, so more than 32,000 Btu's is not better.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Seems like the valve is not opening up fully or the adjustment is out of adjustment. Try adjusting the flame.

It sound like the pivot inside the regulator is damaged. I think that you will need to replace the regulator.
