WHY??
WEP is not very secure, it is very easy to bypass, you should be using WPA2.
You can log on to your router and change the security to WEP if you really want to.
Here is your manual ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/wgr614v7_ref_manual_20apr06.pdf

???? What was with the unhelpfull score.
WEP is VERY unsecure, WPA2(TKIP) is advised, but i gave you the setup guide for your router so you can set your security to WEP if you wish to.
This was a very complete and full answer.

What is the code for netgear WGR614v7 to enter to a laptop for wireless wifi?

Connect a LAN cable from the Netgear to the LAN port on your computer, open a browser and enter the Netgear configuration URL -
http://192.168.0.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = password You can now change the default admin password and configure the wireless settings.
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2 encryption to protect your wireless network and Internet from unauthorized access.
Now apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.

Router wifi and computer dont connect

Some later model wireless routers have the Password(ie.Encryption key) and the SSID already configured in the wireless router andthis information is printed on a label on the bottom of the router.
These settings can be used to configure the wireless card and wireless adaptersin your computer/laptop.
If these settings do not suit you, then it can be changed to suit yourrequirements.
The encryption key secures your data and wireless connection from unauthorizedaccess. To configure the wireless settings in the router, connect a LAN cablefrom your computer to the wireless router, then open a Browser on your computerand enter the router's configuration IP address, then enter the admin login andpassword and then go to the wireless settings and configure the SSID andEncryption key.
The router's encryption key can be a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA or WPA2key.If you use the Passphrase method select either WEP or WPA or WPA2 togenerate the encryption key. You can enter the WEP or WPA or WPA2 key with 8 to63 ASCII characters or 64 Hex digits.
Most people use Passphrase which is easier to remember eg. I was born inJanuary 1988.
The strongest and latest security is WPA2, the weakest and oldest is WEP. Toconnect to your wireless router from the computer/laptop, configure thewireless card in your computer/laptop with the router's wireless settings ieSSID, plus the WPA or WPA2 encryption key. Then computer/laptops cancommunicate with your wireless router.http://www.fixya.com/support/r10267861-network_security_key

I need help getting the wireless key from the router

If you need wireless password(security key like WEP or WPA) or you would like to setup wireless security for your Netgear router, access the router setup page by typing http://www.routerlogin.net or 192.168.1.1(sometimes it's 192.168.0.1) in the address field of your browser and then press Enter.
Enter
admin for the router user name and your password (or the default, password).

After logging in. Look at the main menu on the left, click on Wireless Settings, from there you can check the Wireless Key(For WEP you need Key 1,2,3 or 4 whichever is selected... For WPA you need passphrase) or you can setup wireless security from there if you haven't done so.

Not wep compatable

what is not compatible to the WEP. is it computer or the router ?
All the routers are compatible with WEP.
If you want to change the security type, you can change it to WPA. For this you will need to access the router set up page. Is there any computer connected to the router ? If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router . open the set up page of the router and change the security mode. also change the network name.
Once you change these settings , you will need to connect to the new wireless network on all your computers and other wireless devices in the network.

I dunno ow to secure my connection with my edimax router

You can read more about WEP and WPA in the following links:
This article explains how to configure WEP/WPA-PSK/Access list on NETGEAR Wireless router (also applicable to access points).
Note:
  • You can configure WEP or WPA. But you cannot enable both at the same time.
  • You can configure Access list and also enable WEP or WPA for additional security.
  • After you enable wireless security features on the router (or access point), you must configure your wireless clients (wireless computers) with matching settings. Your wireless clients will not be able to connect unless you configure matching settings.
  • Its recommended you enable these wireless security settings from a computer wired to the router (or access point).
Configuring WEP:
  1. Connect a computer to any one of the four LAN ports of the NETGEAR router.
  2. Open an Internet explorer and type the router IP address which would be either http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 (by default, refer to your product documentation ti determine the default IP address.) in the address bar and press Enter.
The Login window will be prompting for a Username and Password. The default Username is admin and the default Password is password
  3. Click Wireless Settings under Setup menu. n101675_image001.jpg
  4. Under Security Options, Select WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)
  5. Select Authentication type as Automatic and Encryption Strength as 64-bit (or 128-bit) - You must later configure your wireless computers with the same setting.
  6. Select Key 1 and enter any 10 hexadecimal digits - any combination of 0-9, A-F (26 digits if you selected 128-bit as the encryption strength) and Apply the settings. Please note down these values - You must later configure your wireless computers with the same setting.

Wireless security via MAC address

I would enable WPA encryption and keep the MAC security on. Even though no other computers can connect due to the MAC security, without the encryption your network still looks wide open and it will tempt people to connect. At least if they see there is some sort of encryption on they will not even bother with trying to connect to it.

NETGEAR WGR614v7 Network Security key

Hi, you need to connect to the routers admin pages to configure the wireless settings and security. Check out this page:-
http://kbserver.netgear.com/kb_web_files/n101676.asp

When you get to step 6, click the WPA-PSK security setting and it will give you a box to type in a password of your choice, make it memorable but difficult to guess, so a mixture of numbers and letters. I think its a min of 8 characters.
Hope this helps..

I cant connect thru my netgear router model wgr614v7

If you hook your PC directly to the router using an Ethernet cable you don't need the key. You can log into the router and change the WEP Key to anything you want, but u have to be directly connected to the router not going through the wireless.
