Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer

2 Answers

Front load washer - compact, 24" (SAWB600JQ0, I think) - door won't open. we have tried 1) rerunning spin cycle (and it drains and spins), 2) unplugged for 5 minutes - no luck. Is there a manual overide? What does one do when there is no power? Any other ideas?

did the test mode thing - light lit up nicely, door still locked
I really don't want to put in a service call, as I am thinking of replacing the washer - I just want my laundry out!

I have a tech savvy renter and I will show this to him. Of course, any repair/modification that requires the door to be open first is pretty useless. I am also not sure this is a Duet - it is a small compact "apartment" model. We inherited it. I love front loaders and used to have an AEG - it had a manual pull to open the door in case of power failure - what a great idea!

there is a new solution to add to this problem ;-)

in our case it turned out, that the catch and lock hole do not line up properly -- for now the solution is a solid scredriver gently inserted into the opened door handle and gently twisted - it opens the catch! (but only if the door is set to 'open" ie program is finished)

I think Duets have a propensity to have door lock failures...Why removing the surge suppressor would make a difference I have no idea.
F/dL Door Lock Error
A Door Lock Error occurs if the door cannot be unlocked. It will try to lock it 6 times before displaying the error.
Door Lock Mechanism broken or removed from the Door
Check Door Lock/Switch Assembly
Check the wire harness connections to the Door Lock/Switch Assembly and Central Control Unit (CCU)
Door Lock/Switch Assembly Failure

Most common causes is the surge protector. By removing it. It will work great.

This is one of the most frustrating faults to get, especially if your
clothes are stuck inside the washing machine. Lots of people force the
door open out of frustration and cause extra expense. There are many reasons
why the door may be jammed shut -

    1. The water hasn't pumped out properly and the washing machine has a
pneumatic door safety lock (a rubber hose connected to the door interlock
and connected to a pressure chamber bottle on the tub - water forces
air up this tube and locks the door) Washing machine won't empty water.

    2. The water has pumped out properly, but a blockage of gunge inside
the pressure chamber bottle is trapping the air that's operating the
door lock (if a pneumatic lock is fitted - not many have these days due
      to cost cutting)

    3. Door interlock jammed

    4. Door catch, handle, or mechanism broken

    5. ****** (a device that detects the motion of the drive belt fitted
to many older Hotpoint washing machines which "pecks" at the
belt when the door handle or button is operated) is broken or has fallen
      off

If the catch and lock don't line up, try repositioning the door and hinges. It may have gotten warped or moved out of position during spin cycles.

Hi

Please check the bellow link …

http://whirlpool.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2997

Also put in the unit in test mode. Put the program selector knob at the 6:00 position. Put the speed spin selector knob at the 9:00 position. Press and hold the pre-wash button and then press the power button. The 5 leds should light up. This will test the door lock switch. Hopefully it will unlock and reset. If not it's best to call for service as some complicated tests will have to be run.

Let us know if you have something more to ask else please accept the solution.

There's an auxiliary switch in the door lock.switch assembly that is activated at the end of the wash cycle for the machine to advance to the spin cycle. The machine will NEVER advance to the spin cycle unless the auxiliary switch is activated as a safety feature to prevent the door from opening during a high-speed spin cycle that may result in physical injury. The drum tumbles back and forth while the machine control checks the auxiliary if activated but since it's not, the control will not command the motor speed control to spin the drum at high speed. These symptoms may indicate a faulty door lock/switch assembly and may need replacement. GE front load washer will not complete the rinse & spin cycle

1) 1st check the filter under the machine (it unscrews behind the access panel 2) open front door and pull back the rubber membrane to see metal and clean out the debris blocking drain holes 3) remove the drain hose from the machine (spring clip) and try and run water thru it and keep blowing out the junk and re-attach 4) run the machine thru 2 cleaning cycles w/bleach and without bleach 5) start using less detergent

Kenmore HE2 won't finish spin cycle

you have blockage in you drain plug. to solve this problem you'll have to remove the lower front panel of your machine by removing the 3 (1/4") screws on the vary bottom of the machine. once the panel is removed you'll see a 1 1/2" white PVC drainage plug. turn the inner plug to the left in till open. (WARNING ALL THE WATER IN THE DRUM WILL DRAIN THOUGH THIS PLUG) remove debris likes socks or everything that's there replace the panel and your all set.

Front load washer doesn't spin

My Maytag® Neptune® washer filled with water, but it won't spin or drain-what now?

Start by making sure the machine is plugged into a live (working) electrical outlet. Then check the appropriate circuit breaker and reset it if necessary (or check the fuse if you have a fuse box).

Next, inspect the drain hoses and remove any kinks. Take a look at the drain, too - if it's clogged, call your usual drain service person.

Then close the washer door and firmly press the START/STOP button. In a few moments, after the door locks, the washer should begin to spin. (For your safety, the washer will not tumble or spin unless the door is closed and locked.)

If this doesn't work, please contact Customer Service at 1-800-688-9900 for toll-free assistance and service scheduling if necessary.

Stopped operating in the spin cycle

With a heavy blanket you probably have an out-of-balance condition which doesn't let the machine spin out and drain. This would keep the door lock from opening. Try hitting the Stop button twice. This should cancel the cycle and let the door lock open after a little while. Then either redistribute the load or add some items and run a Spin and Drain cycle.
