Question about Sunbeam JARDEN FoodSaver V3840 Upright Vacuum T000 18001 T000 18001

Open Question

We just bought a Foodsaver v3840 and the vacuum pump only sucks out part of the air. I was vacuuming wet ingredients on the wet cycle with folded up paper towel inside as prescribed by the manual and making sure I left at least 3 inches at the top as directed in the manual. I think that the pump is plugged by liquid or debris as the catcher has little to no liquid in it. How can I clear whatever debris or liquid there is that is obstructing the pump?

Mine did that when I interrupted the cycle. I plugged it in and let the motor fully open the sealing chamber then I was able to pivot open the machine.

Seals but won't draw all the air out. Seals fine

That could be a bad foam seal not completing suction, A piece of debris that got sucked into vacuum line and or in pump, or in some cases a crack in a elbow or pump housing.

Foodsaver V3460 vacuum runs and sounds like it has reached the end of the cycle then seals bag.

then you do not have the bag in proper place in the sealer , mine has never failed .

Foodsaver V3840 Won't vacuum air out and wont go to seal. A label states the seals are not removable. Do you know how to fix?

you are not using a "good" bag. Make sure there are no holes and that the bottom and sides of the bag are properly sealed. It will run all day and not pull the air out if the seal is broken anywhere.

My food saver won't vacuum. It worked beautifully last salmon season but now it makes a lot of noise but barely sucks.

Does it have the black rubber gaskets like my V845 Foodsaver? If so, make sure that you wet down the black rubber gaskets like with a wet paper towel before each sealing, and of course make sure the edge of the cut bag is between the two black rubber gaskets. Hope this helps you.

FoodSaver v3825 (I believe it's the same as the v3840) will not pivot open so I can clean the drip tray - the release buttons are releasing, but it is hung up on something.

Mine did that when I interrupted the cycle. I plugged it in and let the motor fully open the sealing chamber then I was able to pivot open the machine.

Not sucking air out

Either the seal to the vacuum foot is not being made due to folds or improper placement, or more likely the filter for the vacuum has gotten plugged. Check out the path to the pump.
