Inside the digital signal there's another  much smaller signal destined to keep the tv in sync with the main signal, Your tv is no longer capable of detecting that small signal.
Try using another type of cable to connect the box to the tv - in the S-video connector that small signal is transmitted separately and the tv will have a much better chance of detecting and using it. If even with it it doesn't work then there's nothing more you personally can do - the tv must be tested and the aged but still partially functional parts replaced by a pro

This is to do with a synchronisation issue specially with the new frequency modulations not syncing with the vertical/horizontal sections of the TV.
Now I hope you are using the composite signal and this must not have any issues like the RF signals which can have issues as I had stated above.
The composite video and audio signals can be plugged into the input of the TV- video and audio---- RCA jacks.
Now choose the AV line in if there are many try in all. If there is picture jumping or slanting , you can use the horizonatal frequency correction and the vertical hold settings to steady the strong signal.
If possible try to route the incoming video /audio through your amplifer or VCR or DVD recorder so that the signal levels drop a little and matches.
Also you can get a help to attentuate the incoming levels a bit to match.
These tips must help you out.

In simple language just connect your video/audio signals through another device you have with you to soften the signal strength.

Try also to use another AV input if there is one in your TV.

Sorry but this seems the fault and it is technical in nature.

Why will my new tv not pick up any channels when using the auto channel search

It depends on if you have cable or are using an antenna. If you have cable, make sure you have the cable that runs in between them hooked up to the correct spots. If you're using an antenna, you might need to get a TV converter box. A couple of years ago, they stopped making regular TV channels and switched to only digital channels. Most older TVs don't work with digital channels, so you need a box that will convert the picture. You can get one at any place that sells TVs (walmart, amazon, etc)

My sega genesis has a clear picture but static sound can someone help?

Try an older TV set. I am not joking. It might very well be the case that newer TV sets/high-end TV systems can't handle the signals of the older video game consoles. Because the newr tv;s don't have the signal transfer inside of them to make the old consoles work so you could use the genesis av cables to hook up to a digital tv instead of the rf switch.

I previously had my wii on an older tv and it worked fine. I recently purchased a new tv (Sharp Quatron Aquos) and when I hooked up my wii and same cables to the tv, my screen is now a hazy black and white...

You are using composite cables(red, white, yellow) mine did the same thing. The aquos is all digital, wont read analog, which is what composite cables are.
They now make a component cable for the wii. I paid $28 at b.b.

I have a 37'' Samsung LCD flaf screen tv and the picture all of a sudden is not clear. It is hooked up to directv box and the two other tv's that I have are clear. I also have a Wii hooked up to the tv and...

Try different ports. Use and HDMI cable and see if it is doing on it. If you are using a HDMI cable now hook the connection up with the component cables and see if it is doing the same thing. If it is clear on one of the other ports you have a port on your mainboard that is bad.

New flat screen hdtv has a fuzzy picture

Yes you will get a better picture quality out of a cable box if you get an HD cable box.
The reason you are getting the diminished picture is due to the signal you are feeding the TV is an analog signal. The newer HD TV's are made for digital TV and this older technology shows all its flaws on this type of TV.

When you get the new box understand that the same channels you are getting plugged directly into the tv are still going to have some grainy look to them but the good thing is that a lot of them are starting to be rebroadcast on HD channels and that is where your new toy will truly shine.

Enjoy your new TV...

Good Luck...

The picture will not come in or if it does it is all scrambled when hooked up through digital cable box

Try disconnecting the cable box and run straight cable from the wall to the tv. If it clears up it is the box. If it does not it is probably a horizontal or power supply problem inside the set. Hard to say without actually seeing the set. Thanks for using fixya.

Convertor box and Sony Wega with PIP (2 Tuners) and new Digital DVR/VCR

I wonder if the RF interference from the digital tuner. That box will only allow ouput either through the coax or the AV ports. If you do both you will not get a picture.

If you switch them you have to tell the box what your using for output by going through the setup process.

Is the Zenith 901 converter box for your cable TV.

Magnavox hdtv

The Magnavox 27MS343S is a standard analog 27" TV. It is not high definition and therefore cannot generate a posterized or pixelated picture. I will bet you are using a digital cable box or satellite reveiver and the problem is in that box, not the TV. Hook up a regular VCR to the TV, set the TV to channel 3, put in a good pre-recorded tape and hit PLAY. If the tape plays nice and clear on the TV, the problem is in your digital box.
