We are fixya try to solve problems only on line. I can guide you and give some suggestions.
If the fuse is OK then if there must be three things you can check up.
Put in a glass of water, set the time to about 3 minutes and switch ON in low power .
Now take care when touching the circuits as there can be high voltage and it is not recomended for a novice to do this work as in the presence of microwave there is danger of burning or skin damage.
Check the Magnetron and the capacitor along the circuit. make sure the transformer is connected and the inline fuse is OK.
make sure that the limit switch of the door is correct. If not open and close for the switch to latch on so that the ccircuit completes for switching the microwave.
Next finally check on the TOC- temperature cut offf contact- a small round component on the side of the cabin.
Check this and comment. Dont forget to rate my advice.

My oven is about 10-15 years old and I cannot reset the clock after the power has been disconnected.

Hello. I need the model number to help you accurately and provide part numbers for your particular unit. Was the power turned off by you or was it a power outage(caused by lightning, construction, etc). If the power went out due to an outage, the main board might very well have been damaged. Power interruptions are notorious for blowing out or damaging circuit boards in ovens, microwaves, dishwashers, washers, dryers...the list is almost endless. Normally, the power going out doesn't do the damage--it's the restoring of the power(and the accompanying current surge) that is the culprit. If a board has been damaged by a current surge, if it wasn't knocked out completely immediately, 3-4 weeks after the event is the usual time when symptoms start appearing--caused by weakened electronic chips on the circuit boards starting to fail.

Kitchen aid microwave door error

Try unplugging it to reset. Also, check your circuit breaker...as an additional check point. This will shut power to the outlet as well as the microwave completely.

Wall microwave worth fixing?

There's micro switches and fuses worth fixing on microwaves... if its doing nothing its most likely the fuse on control board. maybe even the breaker.

I have a maytag microwave that just quit. there is power to the outlet but nothing on the microwave works. do you have any suggestions

Hello, there is a fuse on the front display panel. First unplug the Microwave. Remover the screws and and the front panel. On the printed ciruct board will be a fuse rate at 2 amps. If the fuse isn't blown out. The check the HV diode. It about 1 1/2 long, it will screwed down to metal flashing, it has two pronges with two wires plung into it. Take it to a TV repairman/women have them check it. They have electronic equipment to check it. GB...stewbison

Our microwave is approx. 9 years old and has started to shut off after 6 seconds. It is a Panasonci Inverter (Lost book) Type S333 (F04114182CP) Is this repairable.

1) power to display- main fuse good
2) no power to magnetron- check all realated thermal switches hidden behind control panel. Remove top grill to find two hidden screws.

I have a Whirlpool microwave (wmh1164xvs-2) that runs everything normal but does not heat.

Hello there and thank you for choosing fixya:
normaly when this problem occurs there may be 2 problems that need to be looked at
the first one is the mengatron this is the part that converts the electrical power produced to thermal power when these go bad it will not let the machine warm up and some times it can produce a error code (but not always ) Should look like this pict below
tbirdfan1_43.jpg

And next is the power inverter (capacitor) this is part of the electrical system that converst the electrical power to the usable power the microwave needs to operate correctly

So check these out first and then if needed i can assist you in checking out more parts ok?
Best regards Michael

I have sanyo microwave oven purchased in 1996 in dubai was fully functional untill few weeks back it has not been serviced for long time ,i am looking for advice on service or replacement

Usually when a microwave quits either the Power Diode or High Voltage Capacitor has failed. When they fail they usually also cause the internal 15 Amp fuse to fail. The back comes off by removing the 4 screws (2 on each side) and 6 screws in the back. (UNPLUGGED!) The you slide the cabinet cover back about 1/2 inch.. lift the rear of the cover 30 deg and remove the cover by pulling to the rear of the unit.

Once inside take a bladed screwdriver and short across the capacitor at least 3 times just in case it was not the failure. If you don't do this and the Cap is good it can really ruin your day! Then isolate the Cap by removing the set of terminal connections that include the power diode connection. Use an analog meter on R x 10K and probe the cap terminals. You should see resistance then watch the resistance increase to infinity. Reverse the leads and watch for the same indication....resistance then increase to infinity. It should do this each time you reverse the leads. To check the diode you read both ways with the meter leads across the diode. One way will read ZERO ohms and the other way should read close to infinity. (You have to reverse the leads.) Like I said usually the Cap or the diode fails. Make sure you check the fuse for continuity also. Most of the time they fail when one of the 2 components above fail. DO NOT replace the fuse until you replace the failed part. Otherwise the fuse will fail again.
The fuse is located in the fuse block at the end of the power cord.
When your reinstall the cover make sure you ensure the front side locking tabs near the bottom front are engaged with the front of the internal chassis.

If you need product specific parts replacement information we will need your exact model number. I will tell you that if you find the problem via the steps above you can walk into any LOCAL Appliance Parts source store and they will have the part you need in stock.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Whirlpool Double oven - control panel stopped working

Atlanta...sounds like you may have a power supply problem or the panel is bad. Cut the power, open the unit up and see if there is a fuse in there or a reset. No good? Then replace the circuit board. They just, well, die sometime. Happened to my microwave. Some units may be available remanufactured. Look around on the web.
