First off, have you been successful with recordable discs from the same container in the past?
If yes, then it might be a hardware problem with the recorder, but if you haven't successfully recorded before, read further.
Have you tried a different brand/type of DVD-recordable disc?
There are four types of DVD-recordable disc, and not all recorders support all types.
DVD-R ("dash R") - these are single-layer, write-once
DVD+R ("plus R") - these are single-layer, write-once
DVD-RW - these are single-layer, rewritable
DVD+RW - these are single-layer, rewritable
DVD-R DL (sometimes seen as DVD-DL) - these are dual-layer, write-once
DVD+DL (sometimes seen as DVD+DL) - these are dual-layer, write-once
So there are three things to determine:
1. Which type(s) of media your recorder likes, dash or plus.
2. Whether your recorder supports single-layer (4.7GB) or dual-layer (9GB) media.
3. Whether your recorder supports Recordable (R), ReWritable (RW), or both types of media.
The manual for your recorder should tell you which type it supports.
