Mold could easily form inside.I am not familiar with the unit but if you call the/a dealer, they will usually tell you how to take the cover off free.If it is just clipped on they would know the best way for removal also. All I would do is start removing visible screws which appear to be holding on the cover.Clean the mold off with bleach/water mixture using very little bleach, clorox spray or something similar.Good luck! Our Dometic air conditioner freezes up & we have to shut off the compressor for a while until it defrosts.

That's right. There is no defrost cycle on a rooftop unit as they are so basic. They need a defrost regularly, especially when it's warm. Check the outside unit is clean and air gets through the vents ok.

We have a mold and mildew smell coming from our air condtioner in our fifth wheel, what can we do about it? Everytime we use the air conditioner it smells bad. We tried sraying lysol into the intake but...

You can shut off breaker to the unit and go on roof and remove cover to do a visual check under cover in drip pan etc, as well as shine a flashlight in where filter at ceiling goes to look at coils and fins (way up inside) for any sign of mold etc. The hard part here is that I am going to assume it is a ducted system, and we can't be sure the mold smell isn't coming from the ductwork. Hopefully you"ll see something when cover on roof is removed.

I have a dometic unit and i smell wath i beleve is mold. i open it up and i see mold? around the blower. how this mold form in the blades? may i get sick breathing this stuff? tank you very much.

Mold can make you very ill depending on which type of mold it is. Mold forms in dark, wet environments and can be hard to get rid of. Your a/c unit needs taken apart and each piece that has mold will need to be cleaned thoroughly and carefully before re-installation.

My dometic RV rooftop air conditioner is leaking on the inside of the camper even after I cleaned the water condensation drain on top of the roof. What could be causing this? The fan is blowing the water...

Remove all covers and look down with them removed and see if the coil drain pan has a stopped up exit where the water drains out and into the rear of the AC unit.

If the unit is off level it could cause a draining problem too.

I have a Dometic rooftop air conditioner 8000 model. When on heat in cold climate I found the a/c unit did not heat our caravan sufficiently.

the reason for this is either the reverser valve or air restriction first clean the a/c by removeing the cover on the roof and the inside clean the cooling fins then remove the sheet metal or plastic cover over the intake fan & clean the shroud then clean the filters inside the van reassemble every thing then turn the unit on & from inside check the side were the wires are to feel for air by turning the unit on cool there should be a big diffrance between the intake from the out put use duct tape to seal off the sides also clean the duct work with air to remove blockage in the duct
