If this installation CD contains a software in order to put your music on your player, then you don't need it. You just drag your music files onto the player using Windows Explorer.

I had the same problem.
I suggest you visit this link and sony's esupport site where you can download an MP3 file manager.

Use the software that came with it, if u have lost the disc, download at: http://musicstore.connect.com/custom/promos/download.html?checkBos=false

You have to open it manually in your start bar,

it should be removable drive somthing.
or you can just sync it and it should show up.

Go to my computer It shows up as a removably disc, usually drive f: Right click on drive f: (or the approriate drive) and click format. Let me know what happens, you will have reload the player, also try bypassing the software you are using to tranfer, by opening up drive f: and clicking and dragging your music into it , or you can copy and paste it into drive f: Good luck
