This is quite common and can easily be fixed. You need to be aware of the placement of your thumbs! Many touchpads are quite sensitive and getting too near the touchpad while typing will effectively move the cursor. This is the voice of experience talking!
For this reason, I chose to use the Fn/Special function key combo to disable the touchpad and am using a mouse unless travelling. Proper hand position will help greatly. Don't let your wrists sag.

How do i get my cursor to move

Do you mean your Mouse cursor, or typing cursor? Is your mouse powered on if it is a battery powered wireless? If it is a plug and play usb then try different usb ports. If it is the typing cursor make sure you can do something else on the computer and that it is not locked up. If these solutions don't help, please supply more information.

Cursor moves while typing

You may need to disable the touchpad. Your wrists may be brushing the touchpad, causing the cursor to move.

Why is my keyboard so sensitive?

lol.. Its a weird problem until you're realize whats going on... While you're typing you're brushing against the touchpad, your onboard mouse.. if it is a problem just go into your device manager and disable it.. make sure you have an external mouse though.

My cursor won't move and ive tries resetting my

I want you to attach an external mouse and see if you can get the cursor to move. If it does, you have a defective driver. Microsoft can diagnose and fix that problem in three easy clicks. CLICK HERE for the diagnostic and fix.

Hi, I just received a Dell Vostro laptop and when I am typing the cursor jumps to a different location. HELP, it is very frustrating. Thank You, Janet

Most likely, you're hitting the touchpad with the heel of your hand while you're typing. This makes the cursor move to where the laptop thinks you're telling it to go. Just try to keep your wrists up a bit. You can also turn off the touchpad, either with a switch (if your model has one) or through the control panel settings. If you are doing a lot of typing, you might want to connect a USB desktop-style keyboard. Many people find these much easier to type on, and it will keep your hands away from the touchpad.

On touchpads if you touch the pad twice in quick succession it acts as a click and the cursor will move to the mouse pointer location. In mouse settings disable "tapping"

When typing on the keyboard of my HP Pavilion, at certain times, certain keys will make the cursor move to another location. Example, when typing this sentence, the cursor move back to previous words.

Acouple people have had this problem the touchpad is very sensitive I would recommend you press the small button above it to disable the mouse when you are typing for a long time . you then can press that button again and it will let you move the mouse again. Im new on here so if my solution helped you please give some good feedback on my answer thank you
