Question about Craftsman 17.5 hp 42 in. Deck Lawn Tractor - CA Model
I'll answer this for future concerns. Assuming you have the clutch/brake pushed in and the blade/attachment lever disengaged, power should travel from the battery positive cable through the 30 amp fuse located in the area near the solenoid and into the B pin of the ignition switch. When the key is turned to the start position, power will travel to the S terminal of the ignition switch into the white wire and into the brake pedal switch. It will then flow out of the brake switch into a white wire and into the attachment/blade switch. A white wire out of the blade switch goes to the solenoid. This white wire activates the solenoid, allowing power to flow through the large battery cable and into the starter motor. The best way to diagnose is to check for power at the ignition B switch terminal. If power is present turn the key to the start position and check for power at the S terminal. Continue following the white wire until you lose power. My tractor had a bad ignition switch confirmed by a lack of power at the S terminal. If white wire is traced all the way to the solenoid with power present at the its terminal, the solenoid is faulty.

Have you checked the solenoid? Does it click when you turn the key? If not then check the solenoid by taking a long screw driver (with a rubber handle) and short between the post if it attempts to start then your ignition switch is bad if not then the solenoid is bad.
Now all of the above assumes that you verified that your battery is good.
