Try and download the lastest drivers from HP http://www.hp.com/country/au/en/support.html, and install the software first without the scanner plugged in, as Windows will then install the drivers from the new software download, and not from the internal drivers on the windows standard installation OEM software.
As for the reg problem: If you have registered with HP before, just goto: http://h50203.www5.hp.com/mailweb/customer/EmailForm.aspx?sni=447373&lang=en&cc=au&lang=en&cc=au&y=9&x=9 and request a change contact details, they should then reply with the changes, or URL link for the update.
