Hi,

a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.

click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Goodluck!

take you generator in and have the output tested for correct voltage and sine wave configuration

electronics rely on a perfect sine wave ac current as a manufactured sine wave affects electronic components such as capacitors, transistors and diodes

generator sets that run an alternator ( not an inverter ) have a pure sine wave and have less affect on electronics.

go google and type in search headings like ---sine wave, inverter sine wave, sine wave affects on electronics, alternator operation and inverter operations and then you may get a pointer as to why your inverter gen set is affecting your electronics

The sine and cosine of an angle have values in the closed interval [-1,1]. That means

When you consider the inverse problem where you want to find the angle whose sine or cosine is known, you must take the values of the sine or cosine in the interval [-1,1]. That is the domain of the functions arc sine and arc cosine. So if you take a value outside the domain [-1,1], and want to calculate the angle to which it belongs, the calculator signals that there a domain error, because there is no angle that answers the question.

It depends on the unit of measurement. The sine of one radian is about 0.84. The sine of one degree is about 0.017. The sine of one grad is about 0.015. From your numbers it looks like your calculator is set to grads when you want it to be in radians (and are you sure you want a negative number for the sine of one?).

Press the DRG key to cycle through the angular modes. One of the annunciators at the top of the display will light to indicate the current mode.

The inverse sine and cosine equations mean "angle who's sine/cosine is:" The bounds of the arguments for these functions must be between 1 and -1, the maximum and minimum values of the sine and cosine functions, because no angle can have a sine or cosine that is greater than 1 or smaller than -1. Also it should be noted that the inverse sine/cosine function is not the same as 1/sine or 1/cosine, although the symbol makes it look like that.

The sine of 6pi is indeed zero. The calculator works with twelve decimal digits while pi is an irrational number with an infinite number of decimal digits. Thus the calculator cannot actually calculate the sine of 6pi, instead it calculates the sine of 18.8495559215. The sine of that number is close to zero but not quite, about 0.000000000002 which is what the calculator shows. This is a natural consequence of using finite machines to deal with infinite numbers.

In degrees, 3*360 is 1080 exactly and thus the calculator can produce an answer of exactly zero.

You'll notice that the calculator also gives a nonzero result for the sine of 4pi.

The "proper" fix for this is something called "argument reduction." If the argument lies outside the range of 0 to 2pi (or alternatively, the range -pi to pi), add or subtract multiples of 2pi until the argument is inside the range. So in this case, subtract 6pi from 6pi to get zero, then take the sine of that.

Bear in mind that argument reduction won't always work, since it too is limited to twelve-digit arithmetic.

The manual states when running on AC, it is the same sine wave ouptput that comes in. When running on DC, it is a modified sine wave.

Most power inverters supply a modified sine wave output. This is different from the true sine wave you get at home. It's close enough for many applications, but not close enough for many transformers, which is what your laptop power supply is. So the problem is that your laptop's power supply does not work with a modified sine wave input. Some will, some won't. Very common problem.

I'm not sure what the application is but I will offer the following. As a retired electronics engineer i can say for sure that a true sine wave does not have any harmonics in it. A modified sine wave will have some harmonics and other what I would call " trash content" depending on how it is modified.
