You just need to readjust the laser you can do this at home with a good repair guide or you can send it in and they will fix it for you.

Wanted to use external hard drive on ps3 so downloaded fat32 on hd. Now pc wont read hd aswell as ps3.

You can't "download fat32". What you have probably done is formatted the disk as fat32 (which is standard anyway) which will have wiped the drive. You should still be able to acccess it but there will be nothing on it.

PS3 will not recognise any disc

Hi,

This is an extremely problem with the PS3 and is caused by a problem with the laser on the Bluray drive which is malfunctioning and can no longer read the game disk properly.

The PS3 uses a dual laser system. This consists of either a dual refractor type lens or two entirely seperate lenses depending on which pickup is fitted to your particular system. One laser is for reading ordinary DVD disks and PS2 disks and the other for Bluray and PS3 games.

The symptoms you describe are quite typical of a failure of one or both of these lasers.

For more information on how to resolve the problem please have a look at this FixYa Tip on the subject.

Many thanks for using FixYa.

PS3 WONT PLAY ANYTHING - DISCS NOT RECOGNISED

i have had similar problems as well as multiple friends of mine. to solve this, you must call the playstation company and send your system in to be serviced. if you have purchased it within the last year and have proof, sony will fix it for free. if not, they will charge you $150 for their services. this is the only way to fix the problem

Ps3 not recognising ps3 games and movies

Sounds like it could be failure of the Blu-ray drive. A friend of mine had the same issue.

Contact Sony support and if it's under warranty they will fix it free of charge (here in Australia they do anyway).

My ps3 is not recognising any disk i put in. it just seems to do nothing when i put in either a game or dvd.

then the ps3 had corrupt circuitry, you will have to take it back for a replacement, dont try to fix the problem yourself, otherwise where you got it from wont take it in for replacement, the place you got it from shouldnt charge you with a replacement, explain to them whats wrong with it and im sure they will give you a new one
