The sound on the video is jerky. I can't download it into the movie maker software program. I must be missing steps.

I have a Windows Vista machine. When I connect my Canon ZR45 MC to my computer, the computer does not seem to detect "New Hardware" attached to the computer. Is this because my Video Camcorder is old or do I need to download drivers or something?

2 ways. If you have a fireware port ieee 1394, at the front of cammera, below the microphone, you have a plastic door. Open it, There are tow connectors, the smallest is for 4 pines fireware connector. At the other side, you have a 6 pines fireware connector. Insert this at the ieee 1394 cpu connector (at the front or back of cpu). In xp the cammera is reconognized like other device, and you can open the video shoots. Other way is with a video capture hardware. The otrer connector (the bigest) is for S-Video. Use an apropiate cable, insert in this, and the input of video capture (maybe internal or external at the cpu). Run the video capture utility of your hardware, and you can campure video from the cammera in real time or from the cassette.

Cant upload videos on videocam suite

try not to open the pc suite instead plub in direct to your pc then from the my computer icon open up the camera or mass storage icon then from there copy paste into a new folder on pc ( now your files should be safe) from there you can either use the pc suite software to convert files to DVD or use NERO 9,or Cyberlink power dvd,or total video converter, unfortunatley all are pay software but do offer trials
however if you have FAST UNLIMITED broadband connection then you can do it for free by going to
http://www.online-convert.com/
and select MPeg 2
should do the trick
let me know how it goes.
good luck

Down loaded movies onto friends computer and want to be able to view

You need the correct CODECs to View, you need to find out exactly what "Format" your Camcorder uses, and find a CODEC that "Plays" it. Also get KMPlayer, it plays almost anything. Of you need to get a Video Converter, that will convert the Video, from Camcorder, into a PC usable format. Often the manufacturer has free software to do this. Visit their website find exact model, and download it.

When you download your video files onto your pc and go to find them in the prg files you notice two kinds of files. The big ones with extension .mod are the video files. I've had success changing the file extension to .mpg and then importing it to your other editing software programs. Hope this helps.
