If power out of the SMPS is the issue then a short on the secondary side can also be the issue in which the optocoupler can shut off the feed to the SM driver.
So if your voltage is present at the SM driver and the oscillation of the invertor chopper is good, check on Sm transformer for fault or the secondary ccirrcuit may have short.
If oscillatiion is not present , check and change the Oscillator IC.There are feedback loops into the circuit and the diode/capacitor can also be faulty.

Hi I have an Acer AL1916 that is not powering up, there is no light on the switch, is there anything I can do, like fuses to check etc? Regards Alan

Sorry no fuses that can be changed. Often it is just the power supply going on the fritz, take it in for repair, due to the cost of monitors repairs are usually very reasonable, as long as you find, a place that specializes in Monitor repair, it will be OK. Anyway you can always ask for a "Quote" and decide as to repair or replace,

Dead set, Akai 42" Plasma PDP4294, no power

Porblem solved,
It's a wonderful day.... Ahhhh, it is now FIXED and working great. I found cracked solder joints on a few of the switching power transistors and some of the big diodes and other heat producing parts. Also notice that the infamous Red caps C524 and C523 were discolored but they checked OK on my cap meter and also my ohm meter, however while I was inside the set after removing 1 million scews I decided to replace them anyway.
I hope that my repair success helps someone.

Smps transistors failed

It is difficult (or impossible) to tell exactly what caused the transistors to go bad. Sometimes they just fail because they were a little weak, or other parts went bad first and caused the transistors to be damaged. Parts get weaker and values change over time and with use, and failures can happen. The UPS can't stop damage to the power supply if some part inside the supply goes bad, but it is still good to have one. New 450 to 500 watt power supplies can be purchased for $30 to $50 (or more).

Logisys PS480D Power Supply is Dead

first of all you should check power cable of smps. if it is ok then you can check smps for ok or fault.Short green and black wire in main output connector(for motherboard). If fan dont moves then check primery rectifire(4 diodes),switching transistor and protestion transistor(on first heatsink),check fuse, ntc, capacitorin primary section. Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back as requested, how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.

Sony Tv Model KV2162 M9

The SONY 2162 is a Old Warhorse. It was manufactured nearly 20 years ago. If the set is dead, and if no one has tampered with it, it can be repaired. One problem I found often in the 2162is that it's mains ON OFF switch failed regularly. check that.If you have knowledge of Solid State Electronics, please carefully open the Back Cover and first check the fuses. If they are ok, then check the SMPS switching transistor. If it is short circuited, then replace. Also check the Horizontal Output Transistor at the same time.
