Help!! No cooling, just fan!!!

I HAVE A LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD AIR CONDITIONING (MODEL#FA4BNF036) THAT HAS STOPPED COOLING. I SEE NO LEAK AND HAS BRAND NEW FILTER. IT'S A SINGLE UNIT FOR CONDOMINIUMS. i THINK THAT THERE SHOULD BE A WARRANTY STILL, BUT TO GET TO SERVICE IS BEING A PAIN. CAN ANYONE PLS GIVE ME AN IDEA HOW TO GET IT WORKING AGAIN?

Comment by CAAAPEREIRA, posted on May 08, 2008 Yes, I can hear the fans running, but I will have to open the panels to verify everything else. The thermostat shows cools and I have programmed it for the temperature to hit 70F. But the temperature does not go below 79F. Does these kind air conditioning have internal fuse? My apartment lights blinked yesterday and I notice that after that the air conditioning stopped working properly. I pressed the "Reset" button on the digital Thermostat which displays "cooling" but it acutally does not! I HAVE A LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD AIR CONDITIONING (MODEL#FA4BNF036) THAT HAS STOPPED COOLING. I am having the same issue. My AC Unit is Model # BRCQ0361BD

Here's what keeps happening: okay even when unit runs ALL day (set at 70*) it never ever cools down past 80 (even if we lower setting to 65*).

The air from the vents comes out at about 60* but some vents work, some don't. ( I live in a mobile home).

Also, to kick the air back on once it hits 80* I have to turn the thermostat to at least 60* befire it kicks back on.

I have tried cleaning the outside unti as well as the A-Coil inside. Is my thermostat broken? low on Freon (NOT freezing up), etc.

My air conditioner runs but it does not cool. I, too, set it for low but it isn't getting below 81º

You probably have a defective contactor or start capacitor on condensing unit. if you pretty handy with wiring go to the condensing section open the panel. you should see a contactor (it's the little black piece with all the wires) check the condition of it. next to it is a capacitor and by the problem that you describe it could be that. check it if it looks bloated there's your problem just go an get an combination capacitor and wire up. (make sure the power to unit is off first. any other questions email me @ hvac.tech7872pr@gmail.com

It sounds to me that it is one of two issues.
1) the compressor is not on. (You may see the fan running though it is not the compressor)
2) there is a refrigerant problem

Either one of these issues have multiple reasons for failures. We really need more information to give you the help you need.

Refritech08, what in the h*ll are you doing telling someone to open up the condensor and play with contactors and capacitors. Just like to imagine the expression on their face when they grab a couple of wires or the bang when they play with the cap. What you are saying is very dangerous and very unproffesional to post in a public forum. Sure it's no problem for a tech to check these components but for the average joe who doesn't know a run cap from an apple it is really dumb to encourage them to play inside the unit.

Air Conditioners Cooling Tips

  • Whole-house fans help cool your home by pulling cool air through the house and exhausting warm air through the attic.
  • Set your thermostat as high as comfortably possible in the summer. The smaller the difference between the indoor and outdoor temperatures, the lower your overall cooling bill will be.
  • Avoid setting your thermostat at a colder setting than normal when you turn on your air conditioner. It will not cool your home any faster and could result in excessive cooling and, therefore, unnecessary expense.
  • Consider using an interior fan in conjunction with your window air conditioner to spread the cooled air more effectively through your home without greatly increasing your power use.
  • Avoid placing lamps or TV sets near your air-conditioning thermostat. The thermostat senses heat from these appliances, which can cause the air conditioner to run longer than necessary.
  • Plant trees or shrubs to shade air conditioning units but not to block the airflow. Place your room air conditioner on the north side of the house. A unit operating in the shade uses as much as 10% less electricity than the same one operating in the sun.

AIR CONDITIONER IS NOT COOLING, USING GAGUE, FOUND BOTH SUCTION AND DISHCHARGE PRESSURE VERY LOW. IT IS R22 4 TONS AC UNIT, SUCTION 10 PSI, DICHARGE 80 PSI. COMPRESSOR AND FAN RUNNING.

there is probably a leak in the systems somewhere, it needs to be inspected for a leak and charged with R-22 for proper cooling.
There is a stop leak for air conditioning systems available to licensed technicians to buy, might work if the leak is very small.

I have a blizard split model 10.5 years old in a caravan. model sa101 the air feels cooler but seems to have no noticable difference in actual temperture and compressor seems to run continuously ...

Please understand first, air conditioning system not only cooling the area but also removing the heat. If heat in the room stays constantly, even 24 hrs running a/c couldn't cool the room.
Now, why the a/c could not cool the room or remove the heat from the room.
Check air filter, evaporator coil and blower wheel for clean. If not service the unit immediately. And also check indoor fan motor rpm. If rpm is low, replace fan capacitor. Check for gas pressure to confirm no leak or running with short of gas. It's advisable to service both indoor and out door once in 6 months at least. Otherwise, your electric bill will kill you lot. Thanks.

Fan works, air conditioning does not. Try resetting the power (in the proper sequence - outdoor unit followed by indoor unit). Air conditioning came on briefly (less than a minute) than stopped, leaving...

    Without seeing the unit,

1 - the condenser fan (which is in the outdoor unit) could be blown. This would cause the unit to go off on high head pressure.

2 - it could be low on refrigerant, which makes it do nothing but blow room temperature air around. The unit would go off on low pressure

3 - the filter is dirty, blocking the cooling

4 - the compressor could be shorted, or a corroded wire somewhere that feeds the contactor

Mr. Slim Ductless Splits are the best on the market and should only be repaired by a trained technician.

    Hope this helps.

When the control is set on air conditioning, it has recently started to dehumidify also on that setting. What to do? The unit is 5 years old.

I'm sorry is the unit set on COOL (snowflake) or DRY (raindrop) All air conditioner will dehumidify when in cooling mode. That is just the dynamics of air conditioning. The air should still be cool depending on your settings. if the air is not cool and you have confirmed that it is in cooling mode, check that the filters are clean and if they are have the system serviced.

I take the time to answer your question, so please rate me.
    Thankyou Mat

AC not cooling during the day

Your AC cooling efficiency is low when he ambient temperature is high and naturally it cools well when the outside temperature drops.

Please remove the filter on the grill and try to clean it under the tap water and after removing all the dust fix it back to the unit. This would increase the cooling efficiency of the unit.

Your AC is also five years old. Please avoid frequent opening of doors or windows.

Ensure that the exhaust fan and the blower of your unit are functioning normal.

The technician might not have done a proper job in fixing the area where the refrigerant would have leaked out. Please check the refrigerant pressure to ensure that no further refrigerant leak has taken place. Or even servicing your unit he would have punchered the tubes resulting in very slow leak of refrigerant resulting in no cooling or less cooling. It takes around a month to feel the pinch of it and the refrigerant. One fine morning after sometime the unit will run and it would start throwing hot air instead of cool breeze!
