Question about iRiver H10 MP3 Player

Scroll not functioning

My H10 Scroller doesn't seem to function. is there another way to work through this. I have the same problem. The scroll lets me get from music to radio and that's it. The volume cannot be adjusted. Otherwise the player powers on fine, plays music, stops, pauses - just fine. The scroll seems to get worse. At first I was able to scroll down halfway through the menu, now it is hardly working at all. iRiver's website is not very helpful. The email address for support is not right, emails are returned. Where can I have my iRiver fixed or what can I do myself? Thanks for your help!

    Alice: Are you asking me that "the Scroll button on the H10 froze"?
    elf: Yes.
    Alice: Please try to reset your player.  
    For H10 5/6GB players, reset the player by detaching & re-attaching the battery. 
    For H10 20GB players, press a reset button which is located under HOLD button by pushing it with a sharp point.  
    If the problem still exist, please contact iriver support center to get the repair service.

Well since the same button controls the volume and the settings, I would also suggest installing any updates or firmware or just redownloading the driver.

Back up your stuff and try a hard reset. Sounds like the software is glitching on you.

My iRiver H10 scroll doesn't work

for tips on fixing the H10 with problems -- try this website.

From what i have seen, your scrollbar is in need of replacement. Need to buy a cheap as-is unit from ebay, get tools to open your H10, and replace the defective part.

Defective Scroll Pad iRiver H10 20Gb

As stated above the 5/6gb units and the 20 gb units use the same scroll bars but they sit on different metal platforms. The platforms are not interchangable. The only way to do it is to remove the old/broken scroll bar from the 20gb metal platform. Then CAREFULY peel the working scroll bar off the 5gb platform be very careful the unit is in multiple layers of plastic and is very FRAGILE. Re attach the working scroll bar to the 20 gb platform and gently plug the little tail into the slot on the motherboard.
OR, buy a working 20 gb scroll bar from ebay. two screws and you're done.

Yes there are locks on the sides of the player so you'll need something sharp to slide along the sides it will open just be carefull.
