Question about Dell Dimension E310 PC Desktop
Try booting the machine up in safe mode. To do this restart the machine and repeatedly tap F8. When the sub menu appears choose safe mode as see if you get the same message again. If you don't and it boots to safe mode and then follow certains steps to recover the operating system.
We now need to use the Check Disk Utility to repair the problem.
Start the system in Safe Mode if the machine already isn't.
To do this click on the start menu and again click on Run. In the box type cmd a command line window will open. For Vista type cmd in the search box and hit enter.
In the command line window type chkdsk /r and hit enter. You will get a message saying that the volume cannot be locked and would you like to schedule a disk check next time the computer restarts. Type Y and then hit enter. Close the window and restart your pc.
Disk check will start and repair any bad files and fix any bad sectors before loading the operating system and could take 2 to 3 hours to complete depending on the state of the volume.
Once its done it will reboot in normal mode. See if the disk check has done its job and try using the applications that has been crashing the computer.
Please post your feedback and Vote if the problem resolved as per your satisfaction.

Would you mind if I ask you something more? I need to know the operating system installed on your system, i.e. windows vista, windows 7 or etc... In windows vista and windows 7, this problem is known and there are several patches to fight these bugs. Another case, you need to let me know the year of the purchased. I hope you know the lifespan of a hard disk, it should be not more than 5 years, even if it's working after 5 years, it may crash one day without any warning. One more question, listen the sound of the hard disk very carefully, if you hear any unusual sound like tick tick or tak tak or etc etc.. you have to take note of the sounds and let me know, it might sound funny but this is one of the most important part in troubleshooting a machine. Many systems with bluescreen is fixed after replacing the hard disk, i don't mean motherboard couldn't be the cause, but in your case, it's already done. Another culprit is the Ram. If you have another spare, that'd be very helpful for us in troubleshooting this. Also the data cables are sometimes involved.
Well, let me know whatever I need to know before I help you troubleshoot this. I'll send you the links for the patches after i receive your reply.
Thanks and awaiting.
