My ps3 over heats and reboots itself

Put PS3 in horizontal position, clean the dust with a household vacuum or pressurized air. Make sure there is 10 cm gap around PS3. And NEVER use intercoolers - this can be the cause of overheating, because instead of cooling they don't let internal system to function properly. Also turn off Information Board (this totally useless feature can cause freezes too).

Overheating even with intercooler

Take the intercooler off. It draws power from the console which inturn creates more heat. You need to put in a Whisper Tailsmoon fan. If you are getting the red rings, you will probably need it to be professionally reflow or put the x-clamp fix in as a DIY solution.

I turn the sistem on and abaut 20 minutes it turn

your system is overheating, clean the vents with a vacume so you **** the dust out, dont use a can of air, this will just push the air inside the unit and make matters worse in time. also you can buy intercoolers for the ps3 this would help you from overheating. (the system shuts off to preserve its self)

Constantly over heats even with intercooler

Try arranging the xbox vertically, if you havent already. The xbox and ps3 both were made for much better cooling when arranged in this way.

Unfortunately, if the ambient temp in your room is high, or if you live in a hot area, you may not be able to do much. Try to keep the xbox out of a cabinet or any enclosed space, and give it as much airflow as possible.

If all that fails, I would consider sending it in to Microsoft for repair.

I have already notified sony of this. It is most likely because of over heating. As with most cases as in the case that holds the ps3, does not breathe correctly. Sony seems to not have put to much thought into the design of the cooling of the system and an intercooler will not help and will eventually burn out your ps3s power supply. For a temporary solution i am currently running my ps3 outside the case and it works much better now. But i also have computers fans blowing on the heatsink and a floor fan blowing also. Now that it is also a possiblity that your drive may be dirty but seeing as i have not cleaned mine yet once and it isnt the issue or else it would do it with movies. if this is your case then your drive is dirty. If not then your system may be overheating. So no real solution.

My playstation3 keeps freezing and wont let me play some of my g

It is freezing because your playstation is to close to the tv and its getting to is due to overheating you are having this problem ... so try moving it to another must take care to keep it properly vented.......
The system is prone to overheating, particularly if you happened to have bought older stock.
One way to deal with this is to stand it vertical, and put a small desk fan behind it.Turn on the fan when you turn on the game. I know it's an annoyance but it is a very simple and effective way to work around the problem.
DO NOT use an intercooler fan or any cooling device that gets power from the playstation. It just makes it worse.

when thermal compound fails it gets overheated so you need to look into this too ...replacing the thermal compound on the heat syncs and it should only cost about $5.00 to fix your playstation.
