Question about Whirlpool Dishwashers

2 Answers

Hi, The machine will not complete a cycle. I think it may have started when the power was turned off at the mains during a cycle. Symptoms are : - You can turn machine on, select a program, press start button, close door, machine appears to begin cycle as normal, water seems to load, then 2 minutes later drains, and 1 minute or so after that the machine beeps 3 times to indicate cycle is finished. Dishwasher tablet door never opens, dishes not cleaned. Have tried : - cleaning filters; - turning off at mains for extended period - pressing start button for 3 seconds to cancel, then starting again - pressing start button for 2 seconds then choosing different programme and starting again (recommended in user guide) all without success. Any help much appreciated.

The Whirlpool ADG 7560 doesn't have a timing knob, it's all electronic. Do you know of a way to reset to factory settings ?

  • emsttam Aug 31, 2010

Those buttons are not on this model - it's a dishwasher.

  • emsttam Sep 04, 2010

It ran diagnostics, stopped after a few minutes, beeping constantly. when i opened the door the start button flashed 5 times. I have read elsewhere that this may mean that water isn't circulating properly (can tyou confirm this), but I have already cleaned the filters

I'm in the UK. The info was found via a Google search, not in any printed document.

It is likely the dishwasher is locked in some diagnostic program.
If you provide the dishwasher model no. then I can try to find out the keys you need to press to get it out from it.

Sorry had not seen the postings attached to your original problem. Sometimes other consultants do not see what the client may have already posted for the previous consultant.

I am still trying to find you a solution now that I have your dishwasher model no.

Will get back to you with something in about 7 hours. I am not currently near my base.

However you could try this sequence in the meantime to see if the problem goes away.

Press the following key sequence in less than 3 seconds to turn off (or on) the Sales Demo mode:

High Temp - Heat Dry - Heat Dry - High Temp - Heat Dry - Heat Dry

I have not confirmed if you have these function keys on your model.

    Will be in touch later.

    cmmiuser01,

No I don't have those buttons, see my previous post and the image linked to it for the buttons available.

    cmmiuser01,

Can you let me know if you are you still on this please.

  • Sam Sep 01, 2010

Unfortunately I cannot see the comments you would have sent to the other consultants.

But I am assuming your dishwasher panel looks like in the picture below.

Most likely the controller is stuck in the quick wash program.

So far I have not been seen any document that covers the reset function for this model. It is a shame that pressing the start button for 3 seconds does not change anything. Which wash cycle light actually lights up on the panel - can you select all of them or is it stuck an particular one.

Sorry this is taking a bit more time due to your model being too unique probably because it is available only in Europe.

    cmmiuser01,

The image you show is the correct one, those are the buttons I have. I can select any program, it makes no difference. The cycle it runs for only about 3 minutes, and basically just fills up with water then empties again - no washing takes place, so I don't think it's a proper cycle.

Sorry, has taken longer to find some more details about your dishwasher.

Based on what you mention, a typical dishwasher technician's advise would be to replace the control unit. But I am trying to get some details on how you could run diagnostics on this before making firm conclusions.

The best routine I have found so far is

"Make sure the appliance is empty of water before running diagnostics as it doesn't pump out before starting to fill and you could overfill the appliance. Open the door and set it to the first program (normally rinse). Turn the power off. Press and hold the start button and while holding turn the power on. After a few seconds the start button will flash. Release the start button. Press the start button once and close the dishwasher door. The machine should now run through a diagnostic routine. Should take about 20 mins. The machine will stop during diagnostics if an error is found and will display the error code as a series of repeated flashes (note this down). If no error is found it will complete the diagnostics and end the program. To exit diagnostics at any time just press and hold the start button till the program is canceled."

Do you use cold water on this or through a hot water connection. If hot water, then check if temperature is within the specified range. The unit has an inline heater which I suppose only boosts the water temperature and not heat from cold.

I checked on the control board for your model and it is not cheap.

I will keep checking - hope the dishwasher gets fixed soon. It must be very annoying not to have it working.

  • Sam Sep 04, 2010

Thanks for the update after the diagnostics. I am not able to find the codes you mention. So I cannot confirm the 5 flashes mean water circulation problem. Can you please refer me to the document you read this in.

Assuming that is the problem, it is more than filter and arms that need to be looked at. The circulation pump could be the problem.

I am still having trouble locating the exact model you have. Can you please confirm if you are in UK or the continent. Definitely this model does not appear in US.

  • Sam Sep 06, 2010

I have located a source for the parts for you model in UK. You will have to scroll down and check the motor / pump wash assembly (part 5734).

I also confirmed the 5 flashes relates to problem with the circulation pump.

So looks like this is what needs to be looked at carefully. If you can identify the location of this part on your dishwasher then it might be a matter of checking if you actually hear it running at that specific moment before the dishwasher shuts off. You could also run the dishwasher with door open and see if the water actually moves at that time. Try to locate the microswitch in the door latch and press it manually with a screw driver or tape it if you can get to it.

    Good Luck.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. If the cycle doesn't complete, then the first thing that should be checked is the Timer and then the heating element. Timers don't often fail, but if every other part of the dishwasher seems to be working properly and the timer knob seems to be stuck in one place--doing one function continuously--the timer may be at fault. Dishwasher timers can't be repaired. If yours is defective, replace it. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

To reset the console, press these buttons in sequence...

    -high temp wash

    -heated dry
    -high temp wash
    -heated dry

If still its not resolved then press and hold AIR DRY button for 10-15 seconds and after this if its still not resolved then you'll have to replace the electronic control. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

    Thanks

Simpson esprite 650 front loader washing machine. Electricity trips on programs b & h wash, can't complete cycle. Spinning and draining cycles OK. Why ? thanks sally

Hi Sally. Now in your posting you mentioned the machine trips the safety switch during the main wash.Is this correct?Does it trip as soon as the barrel stars to turn or a little later.Could you explain what b& h wash is.If the machine spins and drains and fills but trips during the cycle then from working on this model of machine I think the fault is your heating element.Have you tried a cold wash without any temp setting? Please reply with additional information on the questions and I am sure I can help you.Looking forward to your reply.

MACHINE STOPS DURING WASHING CYCLE SIMPLY PUSHING THE START BUTTON AGAIN STARTS THE MACHINE AGAIN

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. To start with check the lid switch which is located near the door frame inside the main housing of your washer. If that appears to be fine then check if the door is closing properly as if it is not then it is a door lock issue and you might have to replace the door lock assembly. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment with the manufacturers name and model no# for further assistance.

Thanks

Had the same symptoms. Tried unplugging power for 5 minutes, no change. Did the Select+options button for 5 seconds, the column of lights flashed once, and then I hit the Start, the door locked, clean clothes followed shortly thereafter :)
