Question about Philips CDR770 CD Recorder

1 Answer

Hi, I've owned my Philips CDR770 for at least 10 yrs. By the 4th year of owning it, whilst it was recording a CD it would freeze up. Then it wouldn't be able to recover the disc. After putting a fan over the CD player area it would work fine. Well, now I try to use it and I can't even get that far. It will freeze up at the intro, where it says "Philips" and scrolls through. It will freeze up there, and if by chance in makes it through the demo, and reads the disc, it will freeze up on the standby screen. Is there anything that can be done? Thanks in advance!

Attempt to manually clean the laser on the record deck the (left side) with a q tip dry gently spin the q tip on top of the lens , if it continues to freeze unfortunately the laser is bad and as i am a philips servicer can tell you that that laser is not available--good luck with the cleaning

Recording Errors

Hi. I did a google search to see how to fix mine. It's doing the same exact thing. I wonder if the CD's are the problem. I hadnt'had problems in the past, but I'm thinking maybe the companies are making their cds's a little different with the speed. I use the audio cdr's but I have had this problem.
