Question about Heating & Cooling

2 Answers

I purchased a 1994 5th wheel with a Coleman air conditioner. It had been covered and in storage for 3 years. When I turn on the thermostat, it sounds like its trying to work but quits after a minute or two. I cleaned the filter and I can hear a gurgling sound (maybe coolent?). I'm not sure what to do next. Can you help with any suggestions? Thanks. Lynne PS The furnace uses the same thermostat and it works fine.

Hi roblynne,
It sounds like you may have a fan motor stuck or obstructed. After sitting for awhile the motor can get stuck and it may need some help to free up. If you turn it some by hand it may just start working. Do not have the power on and start the fan, you may just get a nip. good luck and I hope this will FIXYA.

You may have a power supply problem. If you are connected to an external power supply with a cord, make sure it is able to carry the necessary power. To small a cord will cause a voltage drop giving insufficient voltage to run the compressor. The noise you hear is the refrigerant pressure equalizing in the system after the compressor shuts down.

What is the BTU / size of my Coleman Mach model number 8333B6664; serial # 120219962

Most likely it is a 13500 BTU unit. The recommended replacement is the Coleman Mach 3 Plus 48203C966 which has a nominal 13500 BTU cooling capacity.

I hope this helps.

Did you purchase a new Ducted Ceiling Unit with the Upper Unit air conditioner? If you are replacing an older mach 3, the ducted ceiling packs are not compatible and you will need to purchase the ceiling pack as well. The ducted ceiling pack part number for the 8333 series Mach III AC is below.

1. Heat/Cool Air Distribution Box - 8330B735
2. Cool only ADB - 8330A733
3. Wall Thermostat (if needed) - 7330G3351

Hope this helps.

Coleman mach chill grill - heat turns on whether we have it programed or not. have heat off, ''I feel'' off, can be 80 outside we can be gone and come back to 110 degrees inside and heater on. When it...

Sounds like you have a bad thermostat or a short in the wiring. The clicking that you are hearing in the ceiling is a relay in the control board. When this happens, remove the face plate from the thermostat and check for 12VDC between the Blue and the White wires. If there is power then you have a bad thermostat. If there is not power there, then the problem is elsewhere. However, it sounds as if you have a bad thermostat.

Problem with heat pump

This sounds like a 4--step furnace. Step 1 ,the small ven fan turns on and proves it turnning thru the small air tube that sucks a switch close . Step 2 the spark igniter lights the pilot ...Step 3, the main gas valve opens up and dump gas in the venture tubes to heat the box up, Step 4 theres a swith in the box the when heated closes and turn the fan on! Thank-you-very-much!
