Service manual

All HP printers are quite fussy on cartridges. Sometimes they just need the cartridge taking out and the contact panel cleaning off very very gently with appropriate electrical contact cleaner (Electrical Solvent Cleaner).
I find the easiest way to diagnose these kinds of error is to use another cartridge and see if you get a different error / response.
Even an empty cartridge is handy for this - it will just show up as being empty instead of showing an actual cartridge error.
If the error is accompanied by the print head moving to one end of its travel and slamming to a halt, then this normally indicates that the plastic strip inside needs cleaning - a simple job but does require the whole casing being removed :(
The service manual doesn't really tell much, beyond the main parts of the unit itself (I don't have a copy for that specific Officejet). As the cartridges are an all-in-one separate item it's not mentioned beyond saying where they fit.
In general, it's down to either cleaning the contacts, or replacing, the full cartridge to get past most errors on most modern printers.

Hi i have a hp officejet 4355 all in one printer at my place. i m having problem fixing with the cartridge as it is showing error. pls guide

Problems with Hewlett Packard Officejet 4355 printing can often be due to issues with the cartridges. The printer has two cartridges, one black and white, and one color. Both can be physically inspected for problems. The printer also has a self-test report to determine if there is a non-obvious problem with the cartridge. The report can provide valuable information, including status.

  • 1

Take the black ink cartridge out of the slot on the right. Be careful not to touch the ink nozzles or the copper contacts.

  • 2

Look at the cartridge and make sure that the plastic shipping tape isn't still attached. There shouldn't be any tape covering the ink nozzles.

  • 3

Replace the black cartridge and then perform Steps 1 and 2 on the color cartridge. The color cartridge is the one on the left side.

  • 4

Print a self-test report. Load paper in the tray and press "Setup." Press "2" and then "4." The HP Officejet 4355 will print a report. Make sure the lines of color extend across the page. Missing, faded or streaky lines can indicate a cartridge failure. If the color bars don't show as black, cyan, magenta and yellow, you should clean the cartridges.

  • 5

Press "Setup" and then press "6" and then "1." The print cycle will commence. Allow it to complete and then print another test report. If the test still shows errors, replace the cartridges.

    Printer Cannot fax n call

    Hi,

When this error appears in your printer check if ink are smeared on the holder where the contact panel is with the cartridge. To fix this issue use the Kleenex(perfume ) added with few drops of water to dampen it and clean off those contact on the holder. You should let the unit sit 24 hours for best results. Before printing anything run aligned thecartridgesa couple times then run clean cartridges a couple of times. Print the test page to look for the condition.

    Thank you !!

HP Officejet 4355 All-in-One.Cartridge error.installation of new black hp 27 cartridge returns error message of wrong cartridge type for machine.generic new cartridge gave same result.tricolour 22 produces...

Check to see if the installed cartridge is the correct one for the printer. if the cartridge is the proper part number, remove the ink cartridge and make sure all the packaging tape has been removed from the copper circuitry strip on the backside of the cartridge. Reinsert the cartridge and try printing again.
If the error continues, remove the cartridge again and clean the copper circuitry strip on the backside of the cartridge, and the contacts inside the printer, by following the instructions below:
    1. Use a clean, dry, soft, lint-free cloth. Locate the copper-colored circuitry strip on the back of the cartridge.
    2. Wipe the copper-colored strip with the dry cloth. Use an upward motion, from the nozzle end to the top of the cartridge. Do not wipe the nozzle end of the cartridge or touch the nozzle plate. Wipe the contacts only once.
    3. To clean the printer contacts, carefully look for fibers or contamination on the electrical contacts inside the carriage assembly, but do not wipe the printer contacts with any object. The contacts in the printer can be damaged if too much pressure is applied during a wiping process. Try to remove any visible attached debris within the carriage assembly by gently pulling the debris off with your fingers. If the carriage contacts show noticeable damage, contact the HP Customer Care Center listed in the printer's User's Guide.
Reinsert the cartridge and try printing again. If the error continues, the cartridge may need to be replaced.

ERROR OF LOW ON INK TRICARTRIDGE

    Hello,

My name is Army Mason, and I am here to help. Yes this is somewhat common issue with all-in-one machines. Have you tried cleaning the metallic connectors where the cartridge goes? This is normally the issue, also are these brand new ink cartridges or did you get them refilled? Refilled cartridges can also cause issues. Try cleaning the terminals, that should resolve the issue.

    Have a wonderful week,
    ArmyMason
