If thisis two fans, the first one check the starter capacitor to the motor. it canbe weak or defective or the coil winding of the motor is open. check the switched power tothe coils.
The second motor can get hot due to friction or loose bush/bearings or faulty capacitors or faulty windings.you must check all these one by one.

Shuts off aftr 10 miutes (ovrheating) protective relay?

sounds like an overheat problem. possibly due to motor overheat, or faulty protective relay. best way to find out is to run it until it cuts out, and see if the motor is very hot. if it is, you can replace the motor (as it can't be easily repaired), if it's not hot, the relay is faulty.

Im trying to replace a fan on a simplicity freedom f3300 vacum. HOW DOES THE OLD FAN COME OFF? It seems to be pressed on but I dont want to brake anything.

Assuming you have the motor out of the fan housings, check to see if you can move the fan around clockwise/counter-clockwise. If the fan is not moveable, the fan has probably melted to the motor housing. Replacing the motor is recommended as the plastic motor housing under the fan is probably damaged/melted. It could still be fixed but there is a possibility of damaging the housing. If after removing the fan following the directions below be sure to remove/trim any melted plastic away from housing before replacing fan. Not trimming the plastic could result in your new fan melting again to the housing when the machine is turned on. If you have an older model pay careful attention to the carbon brush area, if there are plastic posts holding the carbon brush springs, these are easy to break.

If the fan is movable, remove the nut and washers from fan. Use two large flat head screwdrivers and place them opposite of each other under the bottom lip of the fan between the fan and motor housing. (it might be a little easier if you have an extra pair of hands to hold the motor). With the flat heads in place, push the handles of the flatheads toward the side of the motor where the belt shaft is. If the fan does not pop off rotate the position of the screwdrivers and try again. Pay close attention that the fan washer is installed before replacing your new fan. after installing the new fan, rotate it several times making sure it isn't rubbing anywhere.

Will Oreck Orbiter brushes fit my Emdeko Orbiter? Thanks, David

yes. Oreck bought the Orbiter maker and kept the machine the same. Rug cleaning product is not the same but works well enough. I sold the Orbiter machine under the EMDEKO name at one time. I have owned one for decades and love it. Audrey

Does anyone know how to get the bottom off the electrolux Epic 3500 SR I need to check the beater brush? Thanks Jim

Actually the top comes off from the bottom base. Remove the underside screws, flip the machine over and gently remove the gray cover from the motor and brush assembly. Once inside, remove two more screws holding down the brush cover which is also part of the tunnel. It will reveal the brush, belt, and much dirt so be prepared.

Hoover upright has stopped working and tripped the circuit breaker. Where is the fuse located on the hoover ?

Most Hoover uprights do not have fuse. Some canisters doe but it is a thermal shutoff. When the vac overheats and cools down it restarts on its own.
You very likly have motor damage, but if lucky you could have an obstruction in the fan causing a jam. Do not attempt to run again.Lift the lid off the vac and see if the drive shaft for the belt will turn. If not motor will need to be removed and fan housing and intake area inspected. If the motor shaft turns and you hear scratching or clicking, the carbon brushes are likely damaged often requiring a replacement motor. If the fan is jammed you will need to dismantle the fan housing. Remove the two motor clamps and there will be four screws on the side of the housing to release the fan cover. The fan should rotate freely in your hand.

Rainbow 2e Overheats... its the Electric Motor cooler fan......

It is pressed on, that is why you have a splined shaft. If you use a socket or nut driver, you can knock it ino place with a hammer. But don't hit too hard. you don't want to damage the end.
