Question about Yamaha Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

Hi there , I have a question for you and hope you can help me answer. I have a subwoofer that hasn't been switch on for a few years and it is neither connected to the mains outlet nor connected to any electrical device . The only thing the subwoofer is connected to is a pair of satellite speakers and the switch on the subwoofer itself is switched off . What happened is that when i used a electronic multimeter to test the plug ends of one of the speaker cables (a 1/4 inch connector that is meant for the satellite speakers) that is connected to the subwoofer , it shows some currents that averages around 18-22mV and it fluctuates greatly. What I need to know is , if the subwoofer is already at OFF position , why does the multimeter shows some current ? Is there any current generating from the subwoofer at all even if it was switched off for a few years ? The model in question is Yamaha MS50DR .

SOURCE: Goodmans Amplifier Speakers , Humming, Capacitor wrong way still worked for a year!

Hi, wow...caps of that value usually go boom real quick when fitted back to front. I too am amazed it has functioned that long. Just double check that incorrect screen printing on the board has not tricked you. Have you put your multimeter across the bottom of it to actually see constant reverse DC volts(ignoring the board markings for now). then replace the offending items, just check that the voltage they are being run at is at least 2-3 volts less than 50v rating of the cap. alot of gear runs really close these days and the supply caps fail early, we see alot of it here in Australia where our supply is 240v you see it at the socket alot of the time at 250-255v Hard on gear designed originally for 220v. I would sub the caps out with 63 volters anyway to be sure of some longevity. Good luck, I am interested to know how you go. Let me know please.

regards
Graeme

SOURCE: Connecting multiple A/V cables to 1 TV

Hi zantar412,

Yes, there are devices to help you. You should shop for an “RF Modulator.” While the intention of this box is convert an A/V signal to RF for older televisions, many modulators offer multiple inputs which can be chosen with a switch. Be sure to check both the input and output options on the box that you buy to ensure it will be compatible with your components and television.

Thank you,
Jason,

SOURCE: best hook- up Polk psw10 sub woofer to yamaha rx-v663 receiver

You will not need to y connect your subwoofer, if you have only one RCA sub out on your receiver the other end of the RCA connector cable goes into the left input on most powered subs, there is no loss of signal, the option exist as some receiver do sport a double RCA sub out.

The problem is that you need the satallite speakers , they have the volume control on them which thats why you only hear the subwoofer.. yes , i tried other speakers to it and no sound either. So you will need the satellite speakers it come with.. good luck!!

Hi Allen,

You'd be surprised how many people you would be helping even by answering old questions. Some people may have the same issue even if the question was asked some time ago.

I also see older questions, but if possible I still answer them to help anyone that might have the same issue.

Auto-off will be a software issue, so no, you can't turn it off. Send it back as a warranty repair. They have a 1, 3, or 5 year warranty. Look at the the support page. Also shows factory repair.

I hooked up the radio and drove around the block while it was playing then when I shut off the truck and went to turn it on the next minute the radio would not play. What wrong?

First, I hope you used a wiring harness to install the radio. If not, I recommend you reverse the work you did, purchase a wiring harness and use it. As for the specific question, it sounds like you have your power leads connected wrong. There are two powers, a constant and a switched. If you hooked everything up with the key in the switched position, that wire will appear to be constant. Check those two things. Also, make sure your ground hasn't worked loose. Happy hunting

Years? Wow! I'm glad it hasn't caused a serious problem or fire!

In some cases, this is due to a bad door switch or door switch mount, or a shorting high voltage capacitor.

If you or someone you know can do testing, first see these files:

http://031d26d.namesecurehost.com/mwd/disassembly.txt

Then see this:

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

That model should be "JVM1350BW002", by the way.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

Center/subwoofer speaker out...mixed

Hi all, I also purchased a logitech x-540 a few days ago and also have the center speaker outputting sound when i test or play the subwoofer. I didn't think this is normal and am now confused. Maybe its a problem with the audio drivers? MB is a ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 with Soundmax drivers. Hopefully someone can help to diagnose/ find a soluytion.
