Hi,

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
260910 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/260910/EN-US/ ) How to Obtain the Latest Windows 2000 Service Pack Hi, i was given a - uparrow.gifBack to the top Hotfix Information loadTOCNode(2, 'resolution'); A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, submit a request to Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix.

Note If additional issues occur or if any troubleshooting is required, you might have to create a separate service request. The usual support costs will apply to additional support questions and issues that do not qualify for this specific hotfix. For a complete list of Microsoft Customer Service and Support telephone numbers or to create a separate service request, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support (http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support) Note The "Hotfix download available" form displays the languages for which the hotfix is available. If you do not see your language, it is because a hotfix is not available for that language. The English version of this fix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.
Date Time Version Size File name ------------------------------------------------------ 15-Oct-2002 18:53 5.0.2195.6090 332,560 Msgina.dll

To apply this hot fix, you must be able to start your computer and open Windows 2000. You will require access to another Windows 2000 SP2-based computer, and a blank, formatted 3 1/2 inch disk.

To resolve the problem, open Windows 2000, and then apply the hotfix:

  1. On a second Windows 2000 SP2-based computer, insert a blank formatted 3 1/2-inch disk in to the disk drive.
  2. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
  3. At the command prompt, type the following commands, and then press ENTER after each command: C:
    CD \
    CD \WINNT\system32\dllcache
    COPY msgina.dll A:
  4. Remove the 3 1/2-inch disk from the disk drive.
  5. Start the computer that has the problem described in the "Symptoms" section, and then start Recovery Console. If you do not have Recovery Console installed as a start-up option, follow these steps:
    1. Insert the Windows 2000 Server Setup Disk 1 disk into your disk drive, or if you have a bootable CD-ROM drive, you can insert the Windows 2000 Server CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
    2. Restart your computer.
    3. Follow the directions that appear on the screen. If you are using the Setup disks, you are prompted to insert the other Setup disks into the disk drive. It may take several minutes to load files.
    4. Select the appropriate options to repair your Windows 2000 installation and to start the Recovery Console.
  6. At the Recovery Console command prompt, type the following commands, and then press ENTER after each command:
    CD system32
    REN msgina.dll mdgina.old
    CD dllcache
    REN msgina.dll msgina.old
NOTE: If Msgina.dll does not exist in the System32 folder or in the Dllcache folder, go to step 7.
  7. Insert the 3 1/2 inch disk that contains the Msgina.dll file copied from the second Windows 2000 SP2-based computer into the disk drive of the computer that has the problem described in the "Symptoms" section.
  8. At the Recovery Console command prompt, type the following commands, and press ENTER after each command:
    COPY a:\msgina.dll
    CD ..
    COPY a:\msgina.dll
    exit
  9. Restart your computer and apply the hotfix.

Please post your feedback and Vote if the problem resolved as per your satisfaction.

Hack windows

Here are the steps involved to <b>Hack</b> the <b>Window XP Administrator Password</b> .<br /> <ol> <li>Go to <b>Start</b> -&gt; <b>Run</b> -&gt; Type in <b>CMD</b></li> <li>You will get a command prompt. Enter these commands the way it is given</li> <li>cd\</li> <li>cd\ windows\system32</li> <li>mkdir temphack</li> <li>copy logon.scr temphack\logon.scr</li> <li>copy cmd.exe temphack\cmd.exe</li> <li>del logon.scr</li> <li>rename cmd.exe logon.scr</li> <li>exit</li></ol> Wait its not over read the rest to find out how to <b>Hack</b> the <b>Window XP Administrator Password</b><br /> A Brief explanation of what you are currently doing here is<br /> Your are nagivating to the windows system Directory where the system files are stored. Next your creating a temporary directory called <b>mkdir. </b>After which you are copying or backing up the <b>logon.scr</b> and<b> cmd.exe</b> files into the <b>mkdir</b> then you are deleting the <b>logon.scr</b> file and renaming <b>cmd.exe</b> file to <b>logon.scr</b>.<br /> So basically you are telling windows is to backup the command program and the screen saver file. Then we edited the settings so when windows loads the screen saver, we will get an <b>unprotected dos prompt without logging in</b>. When this appears enter this command<br /> <b>net user password</b><br /> Example: If the admin user name is clazh and you want change the password to pass Then type in the following command<br /> <b>net user clazh pass</b><br /> This will chang the admin password to pass.<br /> Thats it you have sucessfully <b>hacked</b> the <b>Window XP Administrator Password</b> now you can Log in, using the <b>hacked</b> <b>Window XP Administrator Password</b> and do whatever you want to do.<br /> Here are the steps involved to De <b>Hack</b> or restore the <b>Window XP Administrator Password </b>to cover your tracks.<br /> <ol> <li>Go to <b>Start</b> -&gt; <b>Run</b> -&gt; Type in <b>CMD</b></li> <li>You will get a command prompt. Enter these commands the way it is given</li> <li>cd\</li> <li>cd\ windows\system32\temphack</li> <li>copy logon.scr C:\windows\system32\logon.scr</li> <li>copy cmd.exe C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe</li> <li>exit</li></ol> Or simply go to C:\windows\system32\temphack and copy the contents of temphack back into system32 directory click <b>Yes </b>to overwrite the modified files.<br />

Forgot my sony vaio e series password cmos

Forgot windows password would not be a problem with Windows Password Reset,.

I have used to help many friends who lost windows password
so easy and safe.

Here are the program working:
Step1: Download Windows Password Reset and install it.
Step2: Burn the ISO image file onto a USB flash drive.
Step3: Boot up your Windows by the bootable burned USB in minutes.
Step4: Remove the forgot Windows Sony vaio password on the operation interface and logon PC without password.

IBM Lenovo t60, the logon user interface DLL

To wipe and reload you don't actually have to log in. You just need to set first boot option to CD, insert the XP disk, and reboot the computer. All the steps from there on out are explained on the screen.

I hope this helps :)

Sony vaio VGN FS 742W notebook Startup problem. When swithed ON,Vaio,Window XP screen appears and then window 'isass' appears & notebook swithes OFF automatically.Pl.advise solution for the above....

If Windows appears, and start booting, then the problem concerns the operative system and not the hardware.

That is good news, because all you need to do is using the original computer recovery disk, or finding a Windows setup disk to reinstall Windows.

To reinstall Windows, start the computer with the Recovery Disk or Windows Disk inside and chose Boot from CD when asked, then follow instructions.

Regards.

Windows Vista home + Windows XP Professional Networking issue

Make sure domain settings to your server are correct on the notebook computer. These settings are located in the control panel of the system setting.

Whats the operating system of your server?

Make sure the firewall in windows security is turned off too. Sometimes that thing sneaks up on you.

I haven't used the home edition of Vista but another reason why it might not be working is because it isn't the business version. Microsoft might have added extra security to prevent the home version from connecting to a server. I know we use the business version of Vista at work and it is working that way on the intranet server without a problem.

I would check with Microsofts website on that.

Windows XP drivers for Sony VAIO Laptop

There is no easy answer for this type of question, unfortunately. The best I can do is offer some advice. While installing XP is always possible, and most of the time preferred by the user, not all of the hardware will work every time with every computer. That's just a disclaimer. I think this thread may be useful to you: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=128804
