Which fuse is for the instrument panel back lighting?

Does the radio play ? Are any other back lighting components not lighting ? Does the HVAC control panel light up ? You probably need new radio !
The second interior lighting group includes lamps which may be dimmed. This group may use a combination of vacuum fluorescent (VF) illumination, LED illumination and incandescent lamps.
When the ignition switch is turned to the RUN position, the radio VF display turns ON at maximum brightness. When the park lamps are ON, all incandescent and LED back lighting turn ON at the dimming level indicated by the instrument panel (I/P) dimmer switch. At the same time all VF displays dim to match the indicated dimming level. The panel dimmer switch potentiometer is an input to the body control module (BCM). When the driver selects a dimming setting by moving the I/P dimming switch potentiometer, all incandescent back lighting lamps are provided with a specific voltage. When the I/P dimmer switch is moved from MIN to MAX, all VF displays, as well as all incandescent back lighting respond from minimum intensity to maximum brightness in response to the I/P dimmer switch.

Where does p cont wire on a jvc deck hook up in my 92 civic

Car stereo wiring is pretty straight forward on most brands except a couple imports and Fords. I'm not sure what exactly you meen by P cont. but Honda follows the car wiring color codes exactly so here is the basics. Yellow is continuous power (this will keep some stereo functions working while the car is off, like the clock, memory etc.). Red is ignition power (this turns the main components in the deck on when you start the car). Black is always ground or negative. Orange is illumination (this will allow your deck to dim when you dim the interior lights). Blue is remote power or auxiliary power (this is what turns on an amplifier or other components when the stereo is turned on). Blue and white is power antenna on most vehicles (this will allow your antenna to come out and retract when the ignition is on or off, this functions similar to the auxilary power but may lack the amps to power certain components). the speaker wires are all the same white and grey for fronts and purple and green for rears both sets have pos. and neg. wires. If you can let me know exactly what you are trying to do then i can assist better but the easy way is always to buy the proper wiring harness. this makes the guess work simple espeacially in hondas. connect the colors on both sides together and plug it in to the deck. if you meant P cont. to be continuous power and are not using a wiring harness you can do one of two things. first and not recommended you can run a direct wire from your fuse box to the stereo. you can use the fuses in the fuse box to protect the stereo or you can install an in-line fuse or trust the fuse on the back of the deck (if it has one). just make sure it is the proper amp rating. OR (recommended) you can use a multimeter to find out which wire in the dash is hot when the ignition is off. make sure it is meant for the stereo and splice into the wire.

Orange wire from car harness to stereo illumination where does it go????

This wire is for dimming of the display on your radio from your instrument panel in your vehicle. If your original wire harness in your vehicle does not have this wire, just tape it off and dont worry about it.

Installed new CD deck in 07 Corolla, may have shorted something

first check the illumation fuse which to toyota its the panel fuse, check if it is blown. if not take the aftermarket wire harness u wired in with the radio harness and disconnect the orange wire (illumation wire) and see if u have lights again. sometimes the aftermarket orange wire won't work with toyota vehicles. good luck

I just got a Clarion DXZ385USB deck installed, but the screen does not appear blue as in the product pictures. It is dark and barely readable. Dimmer is turned off. Any ideas?

I didn't have to connect the illumination lead. If you have the battery wires(yellow) connected, the screen will light up pretty bright. When I connected the illumination wires(orange), I got the same dim screen light effect.

I just installed a Clarion max385vd. When we turn the headlights on, the buttons and screen illumination on the head unit keep flashing from dim to bright. Everything else is working perfect.

illumination wire does not need to be installed on this model. depending on your car, it may use odd voltage for the dash lights. Clip and tape off the illumination wire going to the harness.

Orange = Illumination

Some vehicles have an illumination signal that tells the stereo when your headlights are turned on so that it can dim the display (to help keep from being blinded by overly bright stereo displays at night). If you don't have that signal, don't connect the stereo wire to anything.
